Alas, life got ahead of me and this ended up getting posted late but, oh well. At least it's still made it out!
The tall, handsome drow-looking man is Amrâlimê (Amral/Am for short) and was originally a character created for the game Dragon Age Origins (Arcane Warrior & Arl Commander, for those who are curious).

The siblings are Kit(male) and Kitt'n(female) - They were made from dreams I had as a child so are purely original, but they have had some influences from the game Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade after the fact, since that was the first game I ever owned as a kid.
So, it's more of a personal joke, honestly 😂 Let me explain:
I've done a lot of roleplay over the years, and Am & Kit have always stood out as my most popular OCs in any crowd I share them in, even completely without my intention. I don't know what it is about their formulas, but people just love them. Tbh it makes me laugh as often as it baffles me so 🤷♂️
Now, the joke comes in with who places 1st & 2nd. If you've guessed the one who holds gold for most beloved is Am, then you'd be right! I've literally had people fight over who gets to play with Am first 😂 it's ridiculous! Kit, meanwhile, tends to be loved obsessively by a select few players who will even lose interest in any other story that doesn't focus on him. The two boys attract almost completely opposite fans with only some mild overlap (those people tend to be the indiscriminately thirsty btw LOL).
I often wondered what the difference was between them, I'd even play out stories between them to see how they would react. I quickly realised that Kit kind of hated Am a bit, and would go out of his way to be difficult with him in any given story or setting. Meanwhile Am simply shook his head and sighed - sometimes fondly, sometimes in exasperation - and frequently understood Kit's motivations even better than he did himself.
Ultimately, it was a matter of maturity and self-worth.
Kit is a bad boy character with a secret soft side. He's passionate, wild, full of wonder and life and a thirst for something bigger and greater than himself. He likes muscle cars, bikes, fighting, smoking and breaking the law. He also has the hands of an artist and the heart of a poet. He loves photography and painting, he whittles wood and practices crafts, plays/sings and writes books (his favourites are the ones he illustrates, full of knights and dragons for little kids). He's a jack-of-all-trades type with a eidetic memory and a thirst for learning. He fills himself up with skills that he works hard to perfect because he sees nothing at all worthwhile in himself. Tries hard to be the hero in the story but can't stop dirtying his hands to achieve his goals. He loves like a Hozier song but he can't commit to letting someone love him. Kit is my fire child, he burns bright and beautiful but always goes with the wind.
Opposing that is Amrâl. A philosopher at heart, calm & confident in his own skin. Elegant, well spoken, with a wicked sense of humor. A rational mind tapered by a kind heart. He has a love of all books and a desire to mentor and motivate others. There's a steel to him that only comes out when pressed - can cut someone down without him so much as losing a breath. Most often in a story, Am is a retired military commander. He's devout, driven, perceptive - and maybe a bit more than mischievous. In his youth, he was a fiery activist that expected a better world. In his age, he uses his connections and his wealth to create it. He's a venerated war hero that knows there's nothing heroic about war - but will put those hands he used to kill into carrying the next generation over.
Standing Kit next to that? it makes sense that he ends up jealous of Am, with his self-worth and earned confidence - while Kit hides his anxieties behind a bravado that's still entirely fake. It also makes sense why Am's never resentful of Kit - as he often only sees his own reflection in him.
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that the dynamic between these two has lead to a lot of entertainment for me throughout the years 😂 whether Kit is a star and Am is his agent, or Kit is a hired gun and Am is his wealthy patron. Or the two simply went to college together and Am pretended to not notice Kit's ever persistent romantic rivalry with him and Kit tried not to take Am's fond amusement of his antics as an offer of friendship.
All bets are off on that when he comes home to see this mind you 🤣 or so Kit thinks. Truthfully, Am and Kitt'n have been coming up with wholesome schemes on how to get Kit to finally calm the fuck down and learn how to have a normal friendship with the other man.
