Here’s a recent bootleg I picked up: The Lost McCartney Album, which purports to be the originally proposed 2-LP version of McCartney II — I.E. a lot of home demos of noodling on primordial 1970s synths and such. I would guess that the official rereleases of II in recent years probably have some of this as bonus tracks with better quality sound, but there’s something intriguing about a double-album bootleg that uses the entire back cover for an essay that tells you how terrible the record in your hands is. I mean, that’s a hell of a sales pitch. Admittedly, I haven’t played it yet, but as they say, forewarned is forearmed. I have two forearms, so I’m all set.
