Ketspa, what kinds of food do you enjoy cooking most? Baking? Making something exquisite? Maybe throwing in some quick salads?

S^l^ds ^re fine, but I’m not th^t fond of b^|{ing. Too much of it is w^iting – it’s ^lmost like you’re offering ^ meal to your lusus ^nd hoping th^t you didn’t fuc|{ it up so they give you something in return th^t isn’t… y’know. Shit.

Cooking things th^t ^re “exquisite,”… m^|{es it seem like I’m better than I ^m, but gener^lly that sounds closest to what I do. I’ll tone it down with cert^in ingredients, but over^ll I prefer to wor|{ with plenty of spices. I tend to s^mple things ^s they’re coo|{ing to see if I need to ^djust ^nything ^s well, so most of the time I’m by the stove. 

When you h^ve that v^riety of flavours to wor|{ with, ^nd you h^ve the ^bility to monitor and ^djust ^t every st^ge, you get ^ sense of control. Th^t’s why I enjoy coo|{ing, so I ^void coo|{boo|{s unless ^s just ^ reference point.

Ketspa, do (did) you have good relations with your lusus?

I’m not going to s^y she is ^ h^ssle, bec^use I ^m ^w^re I’m luc|{y — unli|{e others, I don’t h^ve to const^ntly feed her, and she’s not ^t ^ll ^ggressive with me. So, over^ll, we get ^long well enough.

However I will st^te that she is in no way responsible. F^r too preoccupied with pl^ying ^round ^nd h^ving fun. Re^lly, she was only ide^l when I w^s b^rely out of the c^verns; you know, const^nt need for stimul^tion and glued to your lusus’s side ^nyw^ys. Once I stopped being fun, she’d st^rt dis^ppe^ring “r^ndomly,” for undefined periods of time. ^nywhere from ^ night to ^ perigee, usu^lly when ^nother pod w^s migr^ting through the ^re^.

So, she w^sn’t completely ^bsent, but she w^s unreli^ble. Now th^t I’m self sufficient it doesn’t m^tter, but before it w^s difficult. It w^s very difficult. Honestly, I fuc|{ing swe^r the only re^son I didn’t risk st^rving ^t times was bec^use of my m—
