A birthday present for the beautiful and wonderful @mymcdanno who deserves all the lovely things in the world.
I hope you like this short little drabble and happy birthday, my gorgeous friend!
“His ego is so visible; I can almost watch it grow.” Danny remarked sardonically, watching Steve get hit on while picking up beers at the counter.
“Jealous much, Danny?” Tani teased, bumping shoulders with him. Danny scoffed, gesturing vaguely around the bar.
“Looking around here, I am completely fine staying here away from any cheesy pick-up lines that someone like ‘Smooth Dog’ over there could throw at me.”
Tani’s smile widened and Danny groaned; nothing good happened when Tani smiled like that. A familiar voice behind him said, “Hey Danny,” Danny refused to turn around and see the smarmy grin on Steve’s face, “are you related to yoda because yodalicious.”
“No.” Danny said despairingly, whirling around to glare at his partner. Steve was absolutely not allowed to do this here. He was not allowed to hit on Danny openly, oozing sex and confidence, in front of their team and possibly making Danny a little crazy.
“Is that a mirror in your pocket? Cause I can see myself in your pants.” Steve continued, delighted in Danny’s reaction.
Danny took a breath, fortifying himself. “It must be hard with your sense of direction, never being able to find your way to a decent pickup line.” He snarked, staring directly up at Steve, challenging. Steve grinned wildly, delighted that Danny was playing along.
“Do you buy your pants on sale? Because at my house, they would be 100% off.” Steve smirked, pressing closer to Danny. Because Danny was sitting on a stool, Steve wasn’t too much taller than him and could lean forward, planting his hands on the table on either side of him. They both decidedly ignored the shocked looks on their friends’ faces. Tani slipped her phone out and started recording quietly, grinning mischievously.
Danny hummed, staring into Steve’s eyes, attempting to decipher what was happening and where Steve wanted this to go. After a moment, a smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “Well, I do like a good sale.” He said, giving Steve a once-over, his gaze burning into Steve’s skin.
Steve leaned down to whisper into Danny’s ear. “I see the way you look at me when you think I’m not looking.” Danny jerked back in surprise, but Steve had boxed him in against the table. “I’ll tell you a secret,” Danny felt a flush rise through him and he shuddered as Steve’s warm breath brushed across his skin, “I’ve been looking too.”
Steve pulled back just enough to stare into Danny’s eyes again. Danny felt a shiver race down his spine at the heat in Steve’s eyes. They both startled at Lou’s whistle.
“You boys sure know how to put on a show.” Tani laughed, still recording. “Although I personally would’ve liked to see a kiss or a dance or something.”
“It’s a real shame nobody asked for your opinion.” Steve said, eyes never leaving Danny’s. Danny smirked and pushed off the stool, pressing up against Steve’s body as he did so.
“Whaddya say we get out of here?” He murmured, and Steve breathed in sharply.
“Yes.” He growled, pressing a hand against the small of Danny’s back and ushering him out of the bar and into the Camaro, ignoring the catcalls of their friends behind them.
