For eleven years she had been Dr Addison Montgomery Shepherd. Eleven years of medical practice under that name, but now she was just Dr Addison Montgomery.
It was a strictly professional reason that Addison chose to keep her married name when she was practicing medicine, after all she had been published under that name. She had forged her career under that name and to simply just change her title all of a would be, well, it would be ridiculous. So she kept it.
She kept the same lab coat, the same letter headers, everything. The only thing was different was that she didn’t wear her wedding rings. They were somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean and every time the redhead thought about them, her heart clenched just a little bit tighter.
Sighing softly as she made her way through the endless corridors of Seattle Grace Hospital, Addison began thinking about how Derek would react to the news. She hadn’t actually bothered to tell him that she was keeping her married name, in fact, she wasn’t planning on telling him at all.
“Good morning. Dr Shepherd.” She greeted, giving him a small smile as she stood by the nurses’ desk.
