IZZY:
â that and I was the only ER resident he agreed to teach. getting him to teach surgical residents was hard enoughâI just followed him around until he gave in. â it was one of izzyâs fonder memories of the plastic surgeon. he could be decent, when he wasnât hitting on her or trying to get her to agree to go out for drinks, and teaching brought out a different side of him. she doubted she would have gotten to know him any other way if it werenât for that.  â he was a good guy. â
izzy knew how to wrap sprains but watching callie do it was something else. izzy was a jack-of-all-trades down in the ER but it was also nice to see the pride in othersâ specialities at work. that said, it would have been preferable if it werenât on her.  â I feel like someone who fell in front of what felt like half the hospitalâstill kind of embarrassed about that. but that feels good, thanks. â
âhow he managed to get away with not actually teaching a majority of the time really is beyond me.â she let out a laugh, giving a tiny shake of her head. she could still remember the stories that mark had told her about izzy. even then, callie had been impressed by the ER resident who couldnât be seduced by mark sloan.  âhe was the best.â callie added softly, her heart still warm as she thought about him.
she gave a small shrug of her shoulders, hoping that if she acted nonchalant about the whole thing, itâd help.  âyouâre fine, really. just know that every second that passes here, thereâs always someone doing something embarrassing. yeah, you fell outside. in front of a lot of people. like BOOM -- down you went.â the ortho surgeon snorted.  âIâm sorry but I just trying to picture it in my head. okay, okay ---- anyway. since youâve been in here, there are probably like five other embarrassing things that people have done that everyone is talking about.â
AMELIA:
    â I canât do this , not again !! i shouldnât have to !â
OPENÂ // MUTUALS ONLY !
âwhoa  --  whoa. whatâs happening? you wanna rewind  a second and fill me in?â
MARK:
â torres, look everything is fine. â mark turned his head and looked at his best friend. the plane crash had taken a toll on everyone involved, but mark had a feeling that slowly things were starting to slip back into what felt like a normal routine. or as normal as things could get after a major life changing event happens. â iâm feeling fine and i just want to get back to work. â
âyou donât need anything? do you need to sit down? god why do they keep this place so cold -- like weâre preserving people or something. we could probably find you thicker scrubs or something.â she was sure there wasnât a single second that had gone by since the crash where she wasnât completely freaked out. as hard as she tried to come off as cool and collected, reality was much different. she shoved her hands deep into the pockets of her coat -- anything to stop from fidgeting so much.
REGINA
âitâs definitely not a bad thing.â She rolled her eyes and kissed Callieâs cheek when she showed her the picture. She was proud of it. âAbsolutely beautiful.â Regina was lost, watching her wife, before she realized that the camera had been taken from her. âOh god, Calliope.â She chuckled and fixed her hair, laying on her side and propping her head up on her hand. âHowâs this?â
âthatâs perfect.â a wide smile seemed to be a permanent feature of her face. her wife could have posed any way she wanted, and callie would have been just as captivated.  âalright, now give me something silly and I promise we can leave this hotel room.â
MARK:
he would like to believe their daughter wouldnât do such a thing. but heâd be lying if he said he wouldnât have pulled it when he was little.        â    i donât know , sheâs still got kid instincts. isnât that what they all do ?   â
âprobably. I really like to think of sofia as being on this whole other level -- maybe thatâs just me being in denial, I donât know.â  she made a face at her best friend.  âis it bad that Iâm terrified for our daughter to grow up?â
ALEX:
â iâm being weird ? callie, youâre one of the best orthopaedic surgeons and youâre sitting here on the couch moping because you got one tiny thing wrong. â alex raised an eyebrow, staring at the woman in front of her. â and besides, iâm in here because i canât do my part of the job until my patients done with her surgery, so iâm just waiting for her to get out so i can go do my post-ops. â
she knew alex was right -- though she refused to admit it. if she accepted that, it would mean leaving the pity party she was currently throwing for herself.  âI got one âtinyâ thing wrong that almost cost my patient a limb.â she mumbled, attempting to disappear into the couch more.  âtell me about your case?â
â want me to stay? â (Regina)
âyou donât have to.â the words fell from her lips out of habit. the last thing she wanted was another person around to witness her emotional break down. no matter how many times she told herself she was going to start handling things differently, callie still seemed to bottle everything up until it exploded. still, she liked regina. there was something comforting about her presence. more than that, she didnât want to be alone. âwould you mind? itâs just been .... a really crappy dayâ she asked, almost afraid that the answer could be anything but no.Â

â i know you think youâre all alone out there, but youâre not. â đ€·đ»ââïž
âand what makes you so sure about that?â callie challenged, refusing to believe that she wasnât destined to end up sad and alone. she thought about the story of king midas, and how everything he touched turned to gold. everything she touched seemed to turn to shit  lately.  âI feel like Iâm messing everything up.â she breathed out, burying her face in her hands.

"come lay down in my lap."
the second the words fell from arizonaâs lips, callie did not hesitate to elimate the distance between them. she joined her wife on the couch, carefully putting her head in the lap of the woman she loved. there was no place she felt more at home, and no place else she would have rather been. making sure to face the blond, she slipped her fingers beneath the soft fabric of arizonaâs shirt, searching for even softer skin.  âcan we stay like this forever?â she said softly.

IZZY
â got a few tips from sloan when I was a resident. figured a lot of patients could get out of here a lot faster if I didnât have to page for plastics⊠but I couldnât exactly send them off looking like frankenstein had sewn them up. â as for learning with her non-dominant hand, it was for the extra practice. the more practice she had with both hands, the better her sutures were overall. they were a large part of her job after all.Â
nodding, izzy moved the ice off of her wrist so that callie could wrap it. she could already see the deep reds and purples of a nasty bruise forming and wrinkled her nose in displeasure. she did perk up, however, at the mention of coffee.  â sure. I could use it before the crazy starts. â
her heart sank at the smallest mention of her best friend. though the pain of losing him -- her first true friend, the father of her child -- wasnât as heavy on her heart as it once was, she still missed him. deeply. not only was he a great guy, he really had been a great surgeon as well.  âi bet it was so satisfying, too -- not having to depend on someone else and still managing to not only get it done yourself, but do it well. â
she took izzyâs hand in her own, her muscle memory taking over as she continued their conversation.  âthe last few moments of normalcy.â callie said with a grin, finishing up. she took a moment to examine the work sheâd done, a feeling of pride washing over her. she truly loved what she did.  âaaand youâre all set. how does that feel?â
REGINA
âIf you say so.â Regina rolled her eyes again and opened up the preview of the picture. âUnfortunately yes. I do know what you mean even when what you say makes no sense. Marriage will do that to ya.â She turned the camera around so that Callie could see. âSee? You do look cute when youâre not jostling around like a cat on the prowl.â
âyou just know me so well.â. she flashed her wife a cheesy grin, the smile stretching from one ear to the other. her focus shifted to the picture, the smile instantly returning as she saw herself through her wifeâs eyes. though it didnât need to be captured on film for her to know it, callie could see she radiated happiness. before regina could protest, she made her wife the focus of a new picture. âyouâre turn.â
ARIZONA
â that iâve been a SHITTY person lately. â a bit broad, sheâs been an asshole since the plane crash,  â to everyone. but especially to you. i â god, calliope you deserved so much better than that, you DO deserve so much better. â thereâs a deep, shuddering intake of breath between her words,  â iâd like⊠iâd like to try and be better. with you. â
callieâs heart sunk as she listened to the blonde, her face softening as she started to see life through arizonaâs eyes. sheâd rebuilt her life, one without the woman in front of her â yet here they stood, once again. âi did deserve better,â she said after a moment, âbut so did you. iâm not always the ... easiest to be with, i know. i-i-i talk too loud, i say the wrong things, i yell.â but god did she love her. as uncertain as life had become over the years, even as she fought her way back to normalcy, one thing was abundantly clear â she didnât want a life without arizona robbins. âif weâre gonna do this, youâre not the only one who has to try and do better. iâm no saint in all of this.â callie bit her lip, looking anywhere that wasnât her ex wife. âiâ would you want to...to have dinner? with me? sometime?â
