Ever since John died, Juliette had been a mess. As the years went on, she became a more controlled mess. She never stopped thinking about him, though. His face never left her head, and his dog tags were always around her neck.
The Army was so secretive, they barely told her anything. She had to track down one of John’s old buddies who was still overseas. Once Juliette did so, it would take upwards of a few months for letters to get back to her. Even then, the information he gave her was limited. It was up to her to put the pieces together.
Somehow, she succeeded. She now found herself with a folder full of everything she had about Major Owen Hunt and her brother, and how they possibly could have interacted. This plastic green folder sat in Juliette’s lap, on a plane to Seattle.
Waking up beside his wife’s hospital bed where she slept, the tired eyed husband moved his joints up and out into the hall to hunt down some sort of coffee to wake him up just in case something were to happen. To say Derek Shepherd was a mess was a vast understatement. The one day he had off and away from the hospital to spend with his children was the very day his wife had been attacked by a patient. Leaving Meredith so broken and damaged it broke every fiber of his heart each and every time he looked over at her. But even with Meredith so damaged, he rarely did leave far from her side – unless it was for food, coffee, or to be sure their children were alright. Nearly colliding with the red headed man he had grown a strong friendship with, Derek had to readjust himself as to not look too out of it. “Sorry Owen.”
" coming! i’m coming–– - ” amelia grumbled, though too quiet for the person on the other side of the door to actually hear. addie hadn’t told her to expect any guests, but that rarely meant a thing around here. with coworkers as invasive friendly as those who inhabited seaside wellness, it was hardly a shock that they should have any unexpected visitors. probably violet with lucas on one hand and a stack of movies in the other, or perhaps charlotte looking for a moment away from the exhaustion of triplets. it didn’t really matter. it wasn’t as if she was doing much, anyway. pulling her daughter up onto her hip with a soft grunt, heels clicked against hardwood as she made her way to the foyer.
she wasn’t expecting to see him standing there before her. how could she be? more than a year had passed since they had spoken, and the last she heard, he had taken another tour. then again, that was months ago, shortly after michelle was born. her only source of gossip left in seattle was maggie –– and even she didn’t know why her former sister was inquiring. nobody there did, and she had intended to keep it that way. if denial were an olympic sport, she would win gold every time. only now there seemed little choice. she blinked, lips parting, letting out awkward sounds of confusion before any real words could form. “ –––––– owen. hi. ”

domestic headcanons meme! (thallie version) @mcjorhunt **not all of these applied for a couple, so I just did my own thing
☾ Sleeping habitscallie moves around a lot. she’s a bed hog, a blanket hog, and she uses tom as a pillow more often than not. with their jobs and the kids, you’d think that they’d both pass right out. but it takes her a while to really wind down.
☼ Favorite time of daycallie’s favorite time of day is later at night. it’s when she gets to come home from work and hang out with her family, when she gets to let her hair down. she loves being able to throw on a pair of sweats and cracking open a bottle of wine with the love of her life.
☂ Favorite weatheryou can creep on this answer here
¿ Term for the TV device, whether it be “clicker”, “remote”, or something elseI think they both call it a remote a majority of the time.
↪ Internet browsing activitiesporn. I’m kidding (: most of their internet browsing probably revolves around research of some kind, or just catchig up with whatever is happening in the world. callie is also super guilty of watching baby videos on youtube, or creeping on people’s facebooks -- espsecially after she’s been drinking. other than that, I think they both might read parenting things too.
☹ Response to a leaky faucet or other household problemI feel like both of them would be so stubborn if there was any kind of household problem. I think that Callie would insist on calling someone, and that tom would insist on fixing it himself.
♡ What their wedding invitations would look likeI feel like callie would really push for the classic invitation look -- lots of white, maybe some pearls and ribbons. something that just would make whoever opened it go oh my goodness, this is beautiful. either that or it would be the complete opposite. realistcally speaking, she just wants to marry him. the invitations aren’t going to matter much in the long run.
☃ What they wear around the housenothing fancy by any means. when they’re not working, both sort of just lounge around in whatever is comfiest -- and the same goes for nights as well. unless they have plans to go out, both are guilty of hanging around in their pajamas.
♆ The worst kind of neighbor they could have, and how they deal with themthe worst kind of neighbor would be someone who makes comments about their family, or someone who feels like they know enough about the family to really say anything about them. nosey neighbors, they would not be ideal. also neighbors who are insanely loud would also not appreciated. I’m pretty sure that callie would yell at them, and I could definitely see tom saying something too.
♨ Their cooking ability (or lack thereof)callie loves to cook. I actually don’t remember if thomas can cook, but I forever like to picture him as her right hand man in the kitchen.
✂ How well they do yardwork (or blow up the lawnmower)callie pretends to do the yardwork. she’ll plant a garden with the kids, but between her schedule (and lack of free time) she doesn’t get to give it as much attention as she should. other than that, you probably won’t see her weeding any time soon. she could mow a lawn if she had to, but she never will. besides, she forever loves it when a shirtless thomas comes outside to work.
♟ If they like board games, and how good they are at ‘emshe is so competitive, even when it comes to games that literally require no skill. seriously, she doesn’t even let the kids win. at some point I’m pretty sure she’s not even fun to play with, but she’ll still get thomas to sit down with her. the kids know better now.
✧ How clean their living space is now, and/or would be ideallyoverall, they manage to keep things neat. they’re not exactly sparkling clean, but with a house full of kids and two parents working full time as surgeons, a little disorder is to be expected.
♜ Interior decorating aestheticthey went shopping together, that’s for sure. imagine hours arguing over furniture -- and times that by a few days. overall, they went for more of a home-y vibe. callie still likes her furniture and stuff dark colored, but they compromised.
♘ Any pets they might haveright now they don’t have any pets. I think this is still being negotiated though.
☗ What you’d find in their cabinetssooooo many good snacks. the highest cabinets are for the grown ups -- the best snacks are stashed there, along with their alcohol. the other cabinets are more for the kids. other than that, you’d find just the basic things like dishes or cooking ingredients.
⚒ What you’d find in their toolshed (if they’d have one)DEAD BODIES. no, I’m kidding. you’d find their power tools, kid’s outdoor toys, bikes, and random things that callie stashes in there when she’s ‘spring cleaning’
▀ What they’d hide under the bedthere’s really nothing that they hide under the bed.
○ What tune their doorbell has, if not a standard ding-dongI think they would have themselves a standard ding dong. or that other chime that is impossible for me to type out.
☺ What their welcome (or not-so-welcome) mat would sayprobably something super corny let’s be real. and I just googled some and the one says: a fisherman and the catch of his life live here. and for whatever reason, I have just decided that that’s their welcome mat xD
☻ How late they stay uptoo late. but a lot of the time, they’re just up talking to each other.♒ If they do their laundry in a timely mannerI think they do. with the kids, they kind of have to make sure they’re on top of it.
☆ How they’d throw parties (what would go on at them, refreshments, etc)their parties would be fun. first of all, everyone would be invited -- kids, animals, friends, relatives. and they would have multiple grills going, the kids would be running around or swimming in the pool (with someone watching ofc). there would be a lot of alcohol, and 99% of the time the parties would turn into a giant sleepover. callie and tom have a very welcoming attitude when it comes to the people they care about.✓ What a typical Tuesday night looks likeprobably spent working up until some point, let’s be real. and then they’d meet outside the hospital and go home together. they’d eat dinner with the kids, talk about their days and then put everyone else to bed. then callie and tom would pour themselves a glass of wine and cuddle up on the couch and just relax. they’d talk about their day and how lucky they are to have such a kick ass family.
❥ How they’d invite you home for the night (yes, it could be a pickup line)I’m pretty sure Callie would just be like “you wanna get out of here?” and idk about tom!
