McMercy Week - Day 3: Laughter

The In-Laws

A sweet little idea that came to me tonight. I don’t know if this fits in with any of the themes for this McMercy week but I’m happy to submit it as an entry :)

Enjoy, my lieblings.

Exhausted from a late night Blackwatch mission, Jesse had collapsed into bed and fallen asleep almost straight away. When he awoke the next morning, he was puzzled not to find his angel next to him. Instead, she was flitting around the room as quietly as she could. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw that it wasn’t even seven. Angela gasped slightly as he grunted.

“Oh! I’m sorry liebling, I didn’t mean to wake you. Go back to sleep, okay?”

“What’re you doin’ up so early?” he murmured sleepily. “Come back to bed, darlin’.”

“I’m sorry, but I can’t. Not today. There’s somewhere I need to be.” Concerned by her tone, Jesse sat up.

“Everythin’ alright, Angie? You’re startin’ to worry me a little…” She smiled wistfully and sat on the side of the bed, pecking him softly on the lips.

“I’m fine, Jesse. I’m just going to visit my parents today, that’s all.”

“But I thought your parents…” Realisation dawned upon him and his heart sank. “Oh, right. I’m sorry, angel, I didn’t realise.”

“That’s alright,” she smiled, kissing him again. She then rose from the bed and began sifting through clothes.

Jesse sighed heavily; he could feel her hurting, but had no idea what to say or do. Having never known his parents, he couldn’t really sympathise, and right now he was kicking himself for it. Angela then looked directly at him; there was a sadness in her eyes, but also a glint of curiosity. A faint tremor coursed through her voice.

“Would… Would you like to meet them, Jesse?” His heart shot up to his throat.

“I…” Heat rose up through his chest. “Are you sure? I don’t wanna intrude…”

“How could you intrude if I ask you to come?” she giggled airily. “Yes, I am sure. You are very dear to me, Jesse, and I would like them to meet you.”

Overcome with humility, Jesse shifted out of bed and took his angel into his arms. She was rigid, but as he tightened his embrace he felt her ease into his body. A shaky sigh of relief escaped her lips – this was a big step, for them both. He whispered to her softly, planting a kiss on her forehead.

“Angie, it would be my honour.”

The air was crisp; it tinted Angela’s cheeks the loveliest shade of pink. Even after all this time, Jesse still found himself in awe of her. His daze was cut short by Angela taking hold of his hand and squeezing it tightly. He squeezed back and rubbed his thumb affectionately over hers.

“You okay?” he asked quietly.

“Yes.” She took a deep breath. “Let’s go.”

Jesse let her lead him by the hand. It was a small, modest cemetery on the outskirts of Zurich. All the headstones were a pristine white and kept in immaculate condition. Angela’s parents’ was certainly no different. Removing his hat, he knelt with her and together they lay down the flowers they had each chosen. Angela had picked out white calla lilies, while red carnations had been Jesse’s choice. Resting against the headstone was a framed picture enveloped in protective plastic.

“Is that them?” he asked, nodding towards the photo. Angela picked it up and uncased it carefully.

“Yes. This was taken on our last family holiday at Lake Garda.”

She handed the frame to him and he had to do a double take; a fair-haired woman hugged her daughter while a man with piercing blue eyes smiled proudly. Angela was the image of her mother, save the eyes.

“Well, it’s easy t’see where you get your good looks from,” he chuckled as he handed it back to her. Angela couldn’t help but let out a small giggle as she lovingly placed it back.

“You certainly know how to make a good first impression with the in-laws,” she teased, then turned to the picture. “Mutter, Vater, I want you to meet Jesse. He and I have been together for some time now. I’m sorry I didn’t bring him to meet you sooner. But he makes me very happy, and I know you will love him just as much as I do.”

Choked up, Jesse cleared his throat and turned to the picture as well. The idea of talking to someone who had already passed was a little strange to him, but he knew this meant a lot to Angela.

“It’s an honour to meet you, Ma’am, Sir. I promise I’ll look after your daughter. Not that she needs lookin’ after.” He looked across at her and they shared a chuckle, reaching out to hold one another’s hand. They looked back at the picture and Jesse continued: “If I may say, your daughter is a credit to you both. She’s smart, beautiful, and the best damned doctor I ever did meet. I hope you’re as proud of her as I am.”

“Jesse…”

He turned to see tears now rolling down Angela’s cheeks. Instinctively he shuffled over and put his arm around her, wrapping her in his serape.

“I mean it, Angie,” he murmured. “They’d be so proud of you.”

“I hope so.”

Together they remained in silence, Angela weeping quietly into his shoulder. As he looked on at the photograph, the family’s happiness seemed to radiate from it. In that moment, Jesse knew exactly what he wanted – to bring that happiness back into Angela’s life.

63.“Can you just man up and change his diaper?”

I hope you don’t mind if I post this as a part of McMercy week, it just fits too much (*^u^)

“Jesse, you need to change Frank’s diaper, and clean him as well.” Angela said as she gave McCree their child. He took the kid carefully with disgust on his face, the smell was probably the worst thing about this whole situation. Well, this and the fact that he had no idea how to change a diaper.

“Darlin’-”

“No excuses, you saw me doing this a lot of times already. I’m sure you’ll do fine.”

“Why can’t you do it?”

“Because I have to go. You’re almost 40, grow up already. I’ll be back in a few hours” And with that said, she left.

“Well then, little guy. It’s just you and me.”

McMercy Week - Day 2: Alternate Universe (Instagram AU)

Hello all McMercy shippers! 

Because of the success of the previous McMercy week back in November, I’m here to announce a second one, taking place on the week of July 31st to August 6th 2017!

McMercy is a week where we can all come together in celebration of this adorable ship, just a little week for us to have fun. Everything is accepted; whether it’s fanfiction, fanart, graphics or fanmixes! Creativity is of course encouraged!

McMercy Week: Day 4 - Family

I’m enjoying @mcmercyweek so much that I’ve gotten ahead of myself and written my Day 4 already…

Really hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Weary yet content, Angela smiles weakly at her doting husband. Jesse brushes away the strands of hair matted to her forehead and kisses her softly.

“I’m so proud of you,” he whispers, a smile drifting in his voice. He too is tired, but the feeling is worth every sleepless hour, every pain. All of it is worth it, now that she is here.

The bundle in Angela’s arms stirs; Jesse tentatively reaches out, but he hesitates. His wife sees this and places a reassuring hand on his own, gently guiding him. Never did he think he could feel so much love for such a tiny thing. He wants nothing more than to shower her in affection, but he’s terrified – she looks as if the smallest movement could break her. As if she’s read his mind, Angela sits up and slowly hands her over.

“Go on,” she encourages.

Jesse, now trembling, lets out a composed breath as he takes his newborn daughter into his arms. She’s heavier than he expected. Very carefully he cradles her in his arms, gazing at her in complete awe. The infant opens her eyes slightly, and Jesse is looking into his own.

“Hey there beautiful,” he murmurs lovingly, a faint tremor in his voice. “I’m yer daddy.”

Angela nestles into his neck and can feel his shoulders ease as he begins to relax. She runs a thumb over one of her daughter’s delicate hands, and tiny fingers take hold of her own.

“You know, she still needs a name.”

“Well, I do have one in mind,” Jesse admits. “But I don’t know if it’s a little too close to home.”

“Let’s hear it.”

“Anabelle.”

Blinking back the tears, Angela simply nods and kisses him on the cheek. For their fallen captain, the woman who guided them both and taught them so much.

“Anabelle Ziegler-McCree. Oh, it’s perfect.”

The new parents share a loving kiss. As they part, Angela rests her head on her husband’s shoulder and her eyes ease closed. Jesse’s eyelids are heavy, but he fights to keep them open – he simply can’t take his eyes off little Anabelle.

“Finally,” he sighs, “we can be a family.”

McMercy Week: Day 1 - First Meeting

Happy McMercy Week everyone! As much as I enjoy drawing I think my first contributions to this ship will be fanfics. So here is my interpretation of Angie and Jesse’s first meeting for @mcmercyweek

“Ah, there you are, Dr Ziegler.” Still adjusting to being addressed so formally, Angela turned around.

“Yes, Commander?” He handed her a file.

“As you’re probably aware, Commander Reyes has recruited a new member of Blackwatch and he’s asked for you to conduct a full medical and physical examination because he has no records.”

“I see. No problem, I can do that,” she mused, opening the file. The Commander cleared his throat and tensed. “Something the matter?”

“I wanted you to hear it from me first.”

“Hear what?” He folded his arms and clenched his jaw.

“This guy… Reyes found him in a prison cell of all places.”

“Okay… Questionable judgement. What was his crime?”

“In a nutshell, he was a member of a murderous outlaw gang.”

“…oh, wunderbar.” Morrison’s expression grew ever sterner.

“So, if he tries anything”- She rolled her eyes.

“Commander”-

“No, seriously, I’ll be right down the hall.”

“Commander.” Noting her tone, he shut up. “I appreciate your concern, but I am more than capable of looking after myself.”

“Of course you are. I’m just a bit wary about him.”

“Well, I’m sure Commander Reyes wouldn’t have recruited just anybody into Blackwatch. He must have some potential,” she assured him, now leafing through what little there was of the file. “So, when will I be seeing this Jesse McCree?”

“He should be there now. Do you want me to walk you in?” She shot him a glare. “…understood. I’ll see you later, then.”

Shaking her head, Angela turned on her heel and headed towards her office. As she studied the notes Commander Reyes had made, she couldn’t help but wonder why he had been searching in prison cells for his next protégé. In truth, the thought of an ex-outlaw did unsettle her slightly, but she wasn’t about to let on to anyone, least of all Commander Morrison. Outside her door, she took a composed breath, then entered.

“Hallo, Jesse. My apologies for the wait. My name is Dr Ziegler and I will be conducting your medical examination today,” she chattered hurriedly whilst setting herself up on the computer. “Now, do you have any questions before we begin?”

The doctor swivelled round and was left somewhat dumbfounded. Sat on the bed was an unkempt, rugged man in nothing but a pair of slacks. He turned towards her and a boyish smirk spread across his face, while a flustered heat rushed to her own.

“Yeah, just one,” he began in his husky, southern drawl. “Did it hurt?”

And there it was. Angela’s senses rapidly snapped back to her as she was reminded of every single idiot who had tried it on with her when she first arrived. She rose from her seat and walked over to him, his grin getting wider.

“Actually, I descended rather gracefully from the heavens. But thank you for your concern.” She smiled sweetly at him then set to arranging her instruments.

“Ho-ho, I like me a woman with attitude,” he chortled, waggling his eyebrows. Angela looked at him, unimpressed.

“Good, you got that out of your system,” she replied bluntly, swabbing his arm with some cotton wool. “We’ll start with your bloods first, so lie down for me.”

“Oh, anythin’ fer you darlin’.” Angela’s eyes were close to seeing the back of her head.

“Clench your hand into a fist. Gut. This may hurt a little.”

“Well, I’m sure I’ve been through- FFFUCK!” The outlaw retracted his arm and looked at her, horrified.

“Oops, must have missed the vein,” she trilled. “Let’s try that again.”

“Heh, well aren’t you a feisty one?” He chuckled as she actually took his bloods, though he still winced a little which amused her far more than it should have done.

“Well then, Jesse, all the initial tests seem to indicate that you’re in rather good shape,” she explained, very deliberately averting her eyes from his rather muscular, now sweating physique.

“Whew,” he huffed as he stepped down from the treadmill, wiping his brow with a towel, “you sure know how to wear a man out, Doc.”

“Mm,” she responded, rolling her eyes once again. “However, I must advise that you cut down on your smoking and drinking habits. They are incredibly bad for your health.”

“Well, I have faith you’ll patch me up, Doc.” That grin eased upon his face again.

“Sadly Jesse I’m not a miracle worker,” she quipped, then smiled herself. “Well, not always.”

They both laughed a little before silence fell between them. The cowboy very purposefully stretched his arms above his torso and Angela felt her gaze being pulled in his direction. Shaking her head, the doctor cleared her throat and pretended to sift through her notes.

“The showers are just down the hall,” she murmured. He took a step closer.

“Care t’join me, darlin’?” Her cheeks were now burning.

“I’ll pass, danke,” she replied rigidly.

“Suit yerself,” he shrugged. She eased once he was out of her proximity and by the door. “Well then, thank you kindly, Doc. Hope t’see more of you. Much, much more.”

And with that, a smirking Jesse McCree made his exit, leaving one incredibly flustered doctor behind.
