Done with Minecraft Indev.

I love it, but there are two major gripes I have with it.

1. Horrible lag during sunrise and sunset. And glitchy lighting, too.

2. Liquid physics drive me insane. Dug into an underground lake by accident? Congratulations, your entire mineshaft is flooded! And let's not get started on lava...

I think I'll MCNostalgia my way to a different version now. Maybe Beta 1.4? Wolfies...

MCNostlagia - Downgrade your minecraft to any version.

This is a great tool i found on the MC forums whilst roaming around for some great mods. MCNostalgia allows you to Downgrade you´re existing minecraft version to any previous version(yes, even to infdev) This is extremely useful when you update you´re game without making a backup and none of you´re mods work. OUTDATED - FOR 1.0 - Downgrade Minecraft (Using MCNostalgia)

This post will explain simply and concisely, with a visual guide how to downgrade your Minecraft client, so you can use older mods with the game without pirating an earlier version or otherwise doing something fishy.

First, you should have a copy of 7-Zip, or any other extraction program (WinRAR, etc.) This will allow you to extract the files necessary to use MCNostalgia and downgrade your Minecraft installation. WinRAR should also work, and Windows 7 can open zip files with no additional programs.

I am using Windows XP, but the process should be the same across all windows operating systems.

Step 1

Download MCNostalgia. This is the actual program you will use to patch your Minecraft installation. The program is created by sonicrules1234 and you can check the thread for the program here for the download link. Click this link:

Once you have downloaded the file, move on to Step 2.

Step 2

Locate the file you've just downloaded. It should be titled MCNostalgia2.0.1.rar or similar. Open it.

Step 3

Make a new folder named MCNostalgia somewhere easily accessible, like your desktop, and then drag all the files from the zip into the new folder, or click 'extract' and then type in the correct directory (like C:/Documents and Settings/User/Desktop/MCNostalgia) and click OK. This may take a moment.

Step 4

Make sure your Minecraft installation is completely fresh before proceeding.This can be done by pressing WINDOWS KEY  and R at the same time, then typing %appdata%/.minecraft and pressing enter. Then backup your SAVES folder to a secure location that is not in the minecraft folder and press CTRL+A (select all) and then DELETE. Click Yes to All if asked. This will delete your entire minecraft installation.

Then run minecraft.exe, click 'options', click 'force update', click 'ok', and load the game up completely. Then close the game, and you have a completely fresh install.

Step 5

Open the new folder, and run the MCNostalgia exe file.

Step 6

You should see a screen like this:

Press enter.

Step 6

You should see a list of numbers, like this:

The numbers on the far left (like 65, 66, 67) are what you need to type. Type the number on the left that matches up with the version number next to it into the program and press enter.

If you receive an error like this:

Scroll up and perform Step 4 and then try again.

Step 7

That's it! You should be all downgraded now. Enjoy your earlier version of Minecraft!
