So everyone knows about Magneto feeling a surge of anger and all metal in the room reacts to his rage; chairs squeaking, deforming into unrecognizable shapes, television and electronics showcasing pixelated colors, a neat stream of electronic smoke rising from the plastic bodies, even buildings shaking and rumbling...

But how about the positive emotions?

On a night he feels particularly content, the skies paints itself with aurora; rare purple-red flaring to life against the space-vast black, a sight of a lifetime. It dances to the rhythm of his laughter

I just watched the third episode of X-Men '97, season two. Spoilers ahead

It's so underwhelming.

It's incredibly underwhelming.

I already know Magneto is going to die, and this is already a let down. They resurrected Gambit, I think. Which is okay I guess. Are they going to kill and revive them every so often, or what?

I kept waiting for Rogue and Magneto to at least share a glance like they did at the end of the first season, but yeah no it's like their relationship never existed.

I get it, too, that it's been months and that's why nobody's acknowledging past deaths. They kind of "moved on" (or better said, have more pressing issues to deal with than processing emotions). And yet I expected more grief from Scott for example. I mean, the mother of his child died!? And he doesn't care because she was a clone. Scott doesn't care, he straight up acts like Jean is Cable's mother

And that's shit. Kid Nathan wouldn't be able to really make the distinction, which is fine, but I hate Madelyne Pryor erasure

I also expected more grief from Rogue about Gambit.

The only one who expressed some grief for Genosha was Mags himself. And of course the professor is completely tone deaf about that.

I don't even need Rogue and Magneto to have a relationship this season. But them both acting like it never happened is underwhelming. Frustrating and disappointing, really. I wanted more tension.

Even the clash between Xavier and Magnus about En Saba Nur was completely underwhelming. I expected Charles to be more... Loud! And yet... So far it's really... Eh

Another really important aspect of Rogueneto is that Erik needs to lose arguments to Rogue daily.

Doesn't even need to big ideological arguments about humanity and mutantkind and the nuances of killing people; just tilt his worldview a tad bit to the left everyday

And most importantly, Rogue will do that based on logic, and this keeps happening because Erik constantly forgets a rational brain doesn't disregard emotions (even if they're so highly variable)

Erik Lenhsherr needs someone that won't cower from him, needs someone that will make him remember the joy of life

Two drawings in less than 24 hours??? Once in a lifetime occurrence

Remy, upon being rejected: you never wanted to make things official, you didn't tell me the truth [two false accusations, Remy is not entitled to knowing Rogue's past nor to have a relationship], you won't be happy with him [wishing the worst], "some things are deeper than skin" [completely erasing what Rogue wants and her past struggles with her powers], sure we can still be friends [scowling, not looking at Rogue like an adult and instead looking at the fired and burning cards]. Made Rogue cry

Mind you, Rogue was rejecting Remy for Genosha, not for Magneto. What made her want to stay was the opportunity to do more than she could as an X-Men and not Magneto, Erik was just a plus

Now,

Magneto, being rejected: visibly devasted, yet does none of the above (on Mr. & Mrs. X, he actually incentives Rogue to pursue what makes her happy)

I saw people saying that Remy did not shout at Rogue and he was commendable for that. C'mon now 💀

Dumb idea but do y'all remember how Rogue used the word "affair" to describe her relationship with Magneto in '97? Of course y'all do

In my silly little head it's because Erik wouldn't describe their relationship as dating, no, no. They had an "affair", they were an "item". Rogue just used the same word because you mirror people around you, right?

So imagine it goes the other way, but especially during the time they were pretending not to know each other

People bashing Rogue need to remember she was grieving. She looked right at Kurt's eyes and said "you weren't there, you didn't lose anything" because she wasn't being rational because she's grieving. What do you want from her? Swallow her grief and move on? Did you never say something you shouldn't?

You want her to grieve for Remy but don't act on it? Do you forget she lost the person that she loved like she lost all others? Her father disowned her, Mystique betrayed her, Remy died.

Actually, stop seeing this through ship-lenses, forget all about rogueneto and Remy. She tried Xavier's approach and what it got her? A friend dead on her arms. Herself, crying and surrounded by corpses of her own kind

People saying that this Magneto was written badly need to understand what is happening. Do you understand it? He saw millions die, again. It's not the first time he goes through this shit and he has all the right to be tired. It doesn't justify his actions but, gosh, he has the right to be tired.

And it's not like he didn't try Xavier's path, but isn't Bastion a by-product of humanity's hate? And it's not like Xavier is to be directly blamed, it's just that he isn't helping the situation either, trying to force people's hands

And people saying the thing with Roberto don't make sense?? Sorry, he explicit told what happened himself,
