i was also thinking of dorcas’ ship thing being venom earlier!! like as in a snake’s venom—kind of playing into her being super powerful and all of that!! so maybe flowervenom? venomblossom? i dont know

i think they didnt really hear about each other until second or third year. lily started hearing of dorcas when marlene started grumbling about this girl on the slytherin team. dorcas heard of lily, but just the general idea of her and didnt really know her. i think it wasnt until third year when they had some classes together where they met each of her and started really hating each other. they started trying to one up each other CONSTANTLY and started becoming jealous of one another(old post here where i talk about them hating each other)

whereas i think they became somewhat romantic during sixth year at a party and are drinking. lily’s totally drunk—drinking more and more whenever she sees dorcas—whereas dorcas is slightly less drunk. they get into an argument at some point—i dont know what for but they do—and lily just suddenly kisses dorcas and then theyre making out and so on. they quickly started doing that more often. ive said before, i dont know if their relationship ever becomes romantic— i think the resentment and jealousy and anger is too big for them. i do think dorcas actually did grow to love lily, though, but lily was struggling with deep internalized homophobia—and while i think she did love dorcas, she just couldnt accept it. there were moments though!! i do think though near the end, before lily broke it off, they became more romantic and had some soft moments. but that was when lily felt too real and had to break it off.

this became a lot longer than i meant for it to be—but i hope you enjoy!!!

★ i love the idea of them both being STEM girls and meeting in that male dominated field

imagine it's a lecture and some guy raised his hand and asked the dumbest question, and both of them mutter under their breaths what an idiot and that is their meet cute. like when they lock eyes after that

★ them meeting again at some party after an exam and lily is brave enough to go up to her and say that she wants to be friends. girls gotta stick together and all that. and dorcas is like yeah sure girl and drags her into the party life. like i imagine dorcas parties harddd and lily isn’t really that big of a drinker, like she likes a glass of red wine on the weekend over a puzzle yk, but she wants to impress so badly and dorcas laughs every time she blushes and stumbles

★ they don’t really have the same music taste so their debates are never ending about artists

^ but both of them get into white girl music at parties and scream really loud (lily needs two beers first though)

★ mary is taking care of lily's hangover the day after and the only thing lily can talk about is this girl in her class named dorcas and how pretty she is, how funny, how brilliant

^ meanwhile dorcas is ranting to barty of all people (and that’s how barty knows this is kinda serious)

★ them having to peer-review each others papers and they're just frothing at the mouth, wanting to fuck, because they think the other is so smart and it's so so hot

★ as they get to know each other more dorcas thinks lily is lowk boring with her sense of justice and the way that she's a bit of a goody two shoes with her perfect student persona and also the way that she never tries to do any harm. meanwhile lily thinks dorcas is a daredevil in an unnecessary way and she doesn’t like how much she bends the rules to accomodate her.

★ insanely long debates about feminism. lily is more liberal feminism and dorcas is ecological feminism / a bit of marxism (yo marxism as a political science theory not marxism as in communism)

^ also lily is way more of a pacifist than dorcas is

★ they find themselves at the same protest later on though and that’s it they're done for. they're in love

★ i feel like they're both road trip girls. it's just them, this old ford and women singing about love in the stereo. they drive until they no longer know where they are and then they find themselves kissing on the hood of the car

★ they love to tease each other. it's like their love language

★ lily wants to have a child and at first dorcas is like no this wasn’t in the cards for me. kind of a big deal breaker in the relationship at first? but they stay together and lily gives it up, until dorcas sees her holding teddy and she's like making heart eyes the entire time. when they come home she says she'd like to get a kid after all (after she has questioned herself and done a lot of research ofc, as my lovely stem girl) and they decide to take in a foster kid, this adorable little girl that stole their hearts immediately

★ with their girl they travel the world and a favorite city is tokyo actually

★ dorcas talks to the moon and lily talks to the sea. like they're secretly a bit whimsical

★ dorcas is a trust fund baby and you best believe lily is spoileddd. dorcas loves to dress her up and accentuate her red hair and features. they look drop dead gorgeous at any event
