The pie called Miz Helen's Bierocks Roll Up is tasty and comforting. It's made with ground beef, vegetables, and spices. For people who like hearty and tasty treats, this is a great snack or meal option.
Ingredients: 1 pound ground beef. 1/2 cup onion, chopped. 1/2 cup green cabbage, shredded. 1/4 cup carrot, grated. 1 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 package 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast. 1/2 cup warm water. 1/2 cup milk. 2 tablespoons butter. 1 egg. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil.
Instructions: In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Add shredded cabbage, grated carrot, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until vegetables are tender. Remove from heat and set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy. In a separate saucepan, heat milk and butter until the butter melts. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Add the yeast mixture, beaten egg, and vegetable oil to the milk mixture. Stir well. Gradually add flour to the liquid mixture, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll each portion into a 5-inch circle. Place a scoop of the meat and vegetable filling onto each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges, forming a pocket. Place the bierocks on a baking sheet and let them rise for 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375F 190C. Bake the bierocks in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown. Serve hot and enjoy!
