Philosophical Questions Day 1
"How is love different from passion or sexual desire?"
Love isn't just being enthralled by someone. It isn't just the urge to touch them. Love is absolutely not lust. Love can entail all of these things. These can be done while loving, but it isn't love.
Love is intimacy; it's how you can feel comfortable with someone through being there with them. You love someone because you can be with them in a closeness. Not even physically. Closeness as in your personalities; your souls if you will. You can feel connected with someone so much so that it's love.
Love is also trust. You can trust the person you love to be with you in life. You can trust the person you love to make you feel good whenever you are with them. You trust the person you love to understand your flaws and to accept who you are.
Love is to care. When you love someone you would never want to see them in pain. You'd want to cheer them up, give them gifts, or hugs, or compliments, or your time, or you can do things for them. You show you care because you love someone.
Love isn't passion. Love isn't even romance. Love is who you are with the people you care about.
