Mechthild's wisdom of the day: "I was born in an urn at Pompeii. I am made out of ash and lint. My mother will not let me drink toilet water, despite how wise I am."
A fish cannot drown in water, A bird does not fall in air. In the fire of creation, God doesn't vanish: The fire brightens. Each creature God made must live in its own true nature; How could I resist my nature, That lives for oneness with God?

Mechthild of Magdeburg, The Flowing Light of the Godhead (13th c.) (tr. Frank Tobin)
doing some more work on Ekkehardt’s setting and that means like, actually drawing Aloisia and Marlis/Mechthild more
Aloisia might be his mentor, but they’re all pretty close. It’s a little close-knit family unit of two sisters and their adopted little brother. (Aloisia likes to joke he got a lot of his seriousness from Mechthild, who doesn’t disagree with it.)
They’re liches as well (and more powerful than Ekkehardt is). They just have glamours to make them look like living people.
