What a bunch of sad fucks! What a fucking failure!
“Of course, the appeasement, or as scholars of authoritarianism call it, anticipatory obedience, by certain outlets began well in advance of the election. Jeff Bezos and Patrick Soon-Shiong, owners of The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times’ respectively, refused to allow the papers’ editorial boards to endorse Kamala Harris. The most embarrassing current example of this appeasement was the spectacle of Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinksi of MSNBC’s Morning Joe announcing on live television that they had visited Donald at Mar-a-Lago. Brzezinksi said the following:For those asking why we would speak to the president-elect during such fraught times, I would ask back: Why wouldn’t we? It’s time to do something different, and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump, but talking with him.Why wouldn’t you? Because, if you have integrity, if you believe your own warnings, you do not ever make common cause with fascists. That’s why.“
Fuck the media. We’ve watched them fail for the past 10 years. Why? $$$
Are any of you out in tumblr land familiar with Petitions/starting/running them? Esp in relation to News/ Media Outlets?
How has our news system gotten to a place of no accountability, no human decency or respect?
Are there petitions/laws being worked on currently to restructure /reform our media systems?
Do you remember when news was just news ... ?
I suspect that we all believe we gravitate toward news sources that are the most fair and balanced.
Furthermore, we pride ourselves on being open-minded and willing to consider various ways of looking at things. But that’s not happening, is it? We keep returning to the same comfortable watering holes over and over, which only calcifies our opinion and exacerbates our division.
We think we can spot the difference between news and opinion, but can we?
The above chart quantifies what we’ve known all along - that news is no longer just news. Most of it these days comes tangled up in a point of view.
Just so you know ...
who gets to decide what’s feminine and what’s masculine? like is there some Gender Overlord who just sits around and occasionally says something like “leg hair for boys, frilly dresses for girls” with every major media influencer and outlet taking notes?
CNN has an opinion column with the headline, "We have nothing to fear from the migrant march." Say that to the working class worker whose wages have declined as more people come in, eventually replacing him. To the taxpayers who have to pay the bills for all the services they receive, that the average American can't afford. To the local governments and educators overwhelmed by too many people who can't read and write in their own language, let alone English. The only ones benefiting are capitalist plutocrats who want cheap labor with no care when automation makes them permanently unemployed.
