An aspiring painter and a frustrated musician meet and become instant friends, but decide to end and leave everything as is, just like complete strangers. What will happen if they meet again as two completely different people?

Some time in February 2018, #MeetMeInStGallen premiered and I saw it with a friend two weeks later. It was during a time when we were both going through something. All I remember was an ugly crying self and a new number 1 local film in my book. Because I was an emotional wreck then, I wasn't able to write a review nor even post about it. So, here it goes again. Meet Me in St. Gallen is a film about two individuals who always meet up at the wrong time, staying true to the saying, "pinagtagpo pero hindi itinadhana." They form a special bond, made an impact on each other's lives, and every time they would meet, their relationship gets deeper. But somehow, it just never seemed to work out for them. Bela Padilla (@bela) and Carlo Aquino (@jose_liwanag) together was an unlikely pair who I never thought would have such effective chemistry on a film project. Bringing to life Celeste Francisco and Jesse Abaya, they sold the film to me in its entirety. From script to delivery even the musical scoring, everything about it was just perfect, most especially the script. The script holds a special place in my heart because of how beautifully written it was. The integration of life's philosophies, the what-ifs, and the intimate conversations, all that coupled with the btilliance of Bela and Carlo, everything just fell into place. But then it was the last third of the script/film that hit me the hardest because the emotional journey for me was too real, which was why I bawled my eyes out in the cinema. Spoiler Alert: It was Diana who made the story all the more compelling to me because it was portrayed by Angelica Panganiban. Jesse's mistakes pained me more because Diana deserved better even if she was just mentioned several times. Her character was humanized to make a good comparison to Celeste. Overall, it's a bittersweet story about love and regrets, and it had special heartwarming and heartbreaking moments. Irene Villamor (@ayrin) did an amazing job. A lot has happened in two months! Looking back, I don't know how I survived, but I did, and so here I am. Lol! But seriously, it was the most stressful period in my life ever, particularly during the last two weeks of February all through the first week of March. I wasn't able to sleep properly as I had a lot of things on my mind. I don't want to go through that kind of STRESS ever again, EXCEPT maybe if I'd be properly compensated. Hihi!

Right now, we're on the 15th(?) day of the enhanced community quarantine implemented in the whole of Luzon to contain this virus that causes a disease named Covid-19. Basically, only one member of the family can go out of the house to buy supplies and run errands. Plus there's also a curfew from 8pm to 5am? I wasn't really taking this seriously at first thinking it'd just go away on its own without grave repercussions and such. But here we are right now! And it gets worse by the day.

Our quick trip, which was supposed to happen last February, got cancelled. My mom didn't let us push through with it cos of the virus, eventhough at that time the situation wasn't as severe as this. But prevention is better than cure.

I watched Meet Me In St. Gallen the other day. I don't particularly abhor it, but I don't like it that much either because of the cheating aspect. The characters are as real as they can get--they have flaws and they easily make mistakes. I don't get other people who get "kilig" over Celeste and Jesse's fucked up story. They are CHEATERS! Okay, so they have an impeccable chemistry and I like how fast-paced each of their character development is up until the second time they meet. Well, obvs, Celeste has already invested feelings on Jesse. Jesse, on the other hand, now has a fiance. But even if Celeste knows full well about this, she still lets Jesse gets a piece of her. If it's any consolation, I think they both get what they deserve in the end.

Hmmm, I want to watch more films and series to at least make the most out of this quarantine shiznit, but I get super sleepy, especially in the afternoon after eating lunch. Ick!

MEET ME IN ST. GALLEN

Meet Me In St. Gallen is a must watch movie because it tells that people do come and go, you can’t expect people to wait for you just because you know they love you 😥.

The movie is basically about two characters just deeply conversing about the most random things. It’s a story of destiny, heartbreak, letting go and acceptance. It reminded me of ‘That Thing Called Tadhana’, love it.

I also love the script and the natural flow of conversations from start to end. The actors were really good! But I wanted to express how disappointing it is that a lot of people disregarded the fact that Jesse (Carlo) had a girlfriend when he slept with Celeste (Bella). Nothing makes cheating okay.

FAVORITE LINE: “Baka ganito talaga tayo, dumadaan lang, never to stay. Maybe we came to make it each other happier. Baka dumating tayo para bigyan ng kunting buhay ang buhay.”
