Erik ten Hag Fired as Manchester United Fire Manager After Troubled Start to Season
Erik Ten Hag ne Monday morning apna Manchester United ka manager role officially chhod diya, ek aur disappointing 1-2 defeat West Ham ke against hone ke baad. Ye har ke saath club ne apne Premier League history ka sabse bura start record kar liya hai. Ab interim manager ka role uthaenge Ruud Van Nistelrooy, jo pehle khud United ke liye striker rahe hain aur iss season ke start mein assistant coach ki position join ki thi.
Manchester United ne apne social media aur website pe Ten Hag ke departure ki confirmation di. Announcement mein likha:
“Erik Ten Hag ne Manchester United men’s first-team manager ka role officially chhod diya hai. Erik April 2022 mein appoint hue the aur unhone club ko do domestic trophies jeetayi – 2023 mein Carabao Cup aur 2024 mein FA Cup.”

Statement mein aage likha gaya, “Hum Erik ko unke contributions ke liye dil se shukriya kehna chahte hain aur unke future ke liye best wishes dete hain. Interim manager ke role mein Ruud van Nistelrooy team ko sambhalenge, jo ki current coaching team ke saath milke kaam karenge jab tak ek permanent head coach appoint nahi hota.”
Philhaal, Manchester United 14th position pe Premier League table mein hai aur unhone apne 14 matches mein se sirf 4 jeete hain. VAR decisions se pareshaani bhi team ke struggles mein ek bada factor raha hai, jo Ten Hag ke tenure ke end tak chalta raha. Apne last game ke baad Ten Hag ne West Ham match ke baare mein bola, “Ye season mein teesri baar aisa hua hai jab humein injustice feel hua hai. Iska asar humare scores aur table position par directly padta hai. Ye theek nahi hai.”
Ten Hag ki sacking expected thi, kyunki ex-Ajax manager 200 million pounds kharch karne ke baad bhi club ke results ko badalne mein fail rahe. Ye baat bhi noteworthy hai ki unhe financial freedom diya gaya jo shayad club ke greatest manager Sir Alex Ferguson ko bhi nahi mila tha. Unke jaane ka matlab ye hai ki Sir Alex ke retirement ke baad se United ne 5 managers badle hain – Ryan Giggs se lekar Michael Carrick, Ralf Rangnick tak sab caretaker roles mein aaye, aur ab Ruud Van Nistelrooy iss list ko join karenge.
Kya Nistelrooy ek naye Manchester United ka foundation bana payenge, ya ye ek aur transitional phase hoga Red Devils ke liye? Fans ka patience ab limit par hai.

MS Dhoni's Bold Verdict As India, England Show Ultra Aggressive Approach in Tests
Legendary Indian cricketer and World Cup-winning skipper MS Dhoni expressed his admiration for a more attacking brand of Test cricket being played recently because of the team's mindset of not settling for draws. Dhoni was speaking at an event in Goa. Speaking at the event, Dhoni said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo that cricket has evolved a lot over the years. "You can give cricket any term that you want to, what we have seen is that cricket has evolved. The way people are playing cricket is very different. There was a time when in ODIs something was considered a safe score, now that score is not safe in T20s too," said Dhoni.
"You give something a term, it becomes much more interesting because you start talking about it, you start relating to it but at the end of the day what is it? It's a way to play cricket. Some people want to play aggressive cricket, some people want to play authentic cricket. A lot of that depends on the kind of team you have got - whether they can change the way they play that cricket.
What is important is to realise the strength of your team and according to the strength of the team you decide which is the way you want to play cricket but it takes time. It does not happen that overnight you say, 'let us start playing like this tomorrow'. You need to give time to individuals because they have played maybe 10-12-15 years of cricket and they have a certain way of playing cricket, so you need to give them that time to change," he added.

Dhoni recalled that he faced some difficult days during his playing days when the draw result was certain on the final day of a Test match and he still needed to keep wickets and "go through the motions".
"For me, the most difficult time during a Test match was the fifth day of a match which is the last day when you knew that 10 per cent it is going to be a draw. I would still need to keep for nearly 2.5 sessions and that was the most tiring part.
You see there is no result happening, you are just going through the motions. Yes, bowlers would like to take wickets, batters will try to score runs, [but] there is no result in the game. You think let's finish this and go, why do I have to be here. So I love the fact there is change in the way teams are playing Test cricket," he said.
The legendary cricketer expressed that draws are not good for the game and it is great how Tests have become more result-oriented.
"Imagine telling someone who does not know much cricket we play over five days and we start at 9.30 and 4.30 is the scheduled end of play, we play till 5 [pm] sometimes, and after five days we do not get a result. That is not nice for the game. So I love how there is more results in today's world.
Even if we are playing only four days of cricket and one day gets washed out, still you get a result - that is the beauty of Test cricket and that is how it should stay - you want to get a result after five days and you should not have a draw," he concluded.
In 90 Tests from 2005-2014, Dhoni scored 4,876 runs at an average of 38.09, with six centuries and 33 fifties. His best score was 224.
All eyes will be on Dhoni as the day for the announcement of Indian Premier League (IPL) retentions comes closer and whether he will play another season for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Players Mumbai Indians Should Retain for IPL 2025
Mumbai Indians (MI) are the most successful side in Indian Premier League (IPL) history alongside CSK with five titles to their name. But MI has failed to win a title since 2020, qualifying for the playoffs just once in this period (2023).
A lot happened in the MI set-up in the last edition of the IPL. All-rounder Hardik Pandya, after a successful two years as captain of Gujarat Titans, came back to MI as captain.
Hardik replaced Rohit Sharma, who had won five titles for the Mumbai franchise in the past. Things didn’t look good in the MI camp last year. Rohit Sharma looked visibly frustrated and unhappy, and MI finished at the bottom of the points table. Rumours were that Rohit may not continue playing for MI from IPL 2025.
After all this, now’s time for IPL 2025. Teams need to submit their retentions for the next season by 31st October and there are many match-winners in the MI squad and it’ll be interesting to see who they retain ahead of the mega auction.

IPL 2025 Retention Rules
Teams can retain up to six players through direct retentions or using the Right to Match (RTM). There is no limit for the retentions of overseas players but teams can retain a maximum of two uncapped players. Any Indian player who last played in international cricket 5+ years ago and has no central contract from the BCCI can be retained as an “uncapped player”.
RTMs will depend on the number of retentions (6 – No. of Players Retained). The salary caps for the retained players are:
1st Retention: 18 Crores
2nd Retention: 14 Crores
3rd Retention: 11 Crores
4th Retention: 18 Crores
5th Retention: 14 Crores
Uncapped Player: 4 Crores
Despite this, teams are allowed to divide up to INR 75 crores in any way they wish to retain 5 players. So teams will have to be cautious while retaining the 4th & 5th players as releasing them now and buying them back using the RTM may be a better deal as there aren’t many players who will fetch more than the amount they’ll be retained for.

Who MI May Retain in IPL 2025: Big Names Staying or Not?
After Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20Is, Suryakumar Yadav was appointed as India’s skipper in the shortest format. Then we had some rumours that Surya may also leave the Mumbai Indians as other franchises are offering captaincy.
We don’t know for sure if these rumours are true and whether or not the likes of Rohit and Surya will continue playing for MI. Ideally, no franchise will leave such match winners. We’ll list down MI’s possible retentions keeping all the rumours aside.
#1. Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah is currently the best pacer in world cricket. He is a proper match-winner in all three formats of the game and there is absolutely no doubts that the Mumbai Indians will retain the Indian speedster for IPL 2025 and beyond.
Bumrah is an integral part of the MI setup and a consistent performer. His IPL economy has always been under 8 since 2016 which is a phenomenal feat for any bowler. He has picked up 20 or more wickets in three of the last four seasons, and is a go-option in pressure situations.

#2. Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav is arguably the best T20 batter in the world. He plays some unusual shots all around the ground and is capable of winning games on his own. Surya is another player MI wouldn’t let go of. He started his IPL career at MI back in 2011 but then moved to KKR in 2014 before coming back to Mumbai in 2018.
Surya has scored 950 runs in the last two editions of the IPL at an average of 39.60 and a whopping strike rate of 175.90 including eight fifties and two centuries.
#3. Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma was the face of the franchise over the years. He won five titles for MI under his captaincy since 2013. He’s one of the all-time leading run-scorers in the IPL. However, his numbers in the tournament weren’t as good as his talent warrants; his strike rate never went over 135 and the average was under 30 from IPL 2017 to 2023.
Last year, Rohit scored 417 runs in 14 innings at an average of 32.10 at a strike rate of 150 including one fifty and a century. It is unlikely that Rohit will lead MI at least for the next season but MI will also want him to stay. It is up to the franchise to settle things with him, and he can be the third retention.

#4. Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya had an average season with the bat and a forgettable first season as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. But despite everything, he’s expected to lead the franchise at least in IPL 2025. Hardik is a match-winner with both bat and ball and no team would want to let go of an all-rounder of such calibre.
Recently we’ve seen Hardik return to his destructive best with the bat and he has been performing well with the ball. He played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph against South Africa this year. Hardik will be retained by MI for IPL 2025 and beyond.
Now these four retentions should be a no-brainer for MI if players like Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma decide to stay. With the fifth retention, MI have options in Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma. Uncapped players like Nehal Wadhera, Akash Madhwal, Naman Dhir and Anshul Kamboj are also there. They may retain one of the uncapped players but it looks unlikely as of now.
I feel MI should retain only four players: Bumrah, Surya, Rohit and Hardik and go into the auction with 2 RTMs one of which can be used only for uncapped players. The likes of Ishan Kishan or Tilak Varma are tempting options and MI may even go for them but I feel they can get them for cheaper or at the retention price in the auction.
There were many loopholes in the MI squad in the past few years; consistency with the opening duo, quality in batting depth and pace department except Bumrah being the biggest issue for them. It’s a great opportunity for them to build a strong squad around their retained players. MI management will look to do just that and lift their sixth title in IPL 2025.

IPL Auction Week Drama
It’s that time of year when every cricket fan is excited. Of course, you guess it's right it's IPL Auction time. IPL auction for season 15 is just one week away from us. This year auction will take place in Bangalore on 12th and 13th February 2022. This year's auction has a completely different flavor to it. This year 2 new teams have been added to the grand league. All 8 existing teams had to release all their players into the auction pool. Teams could only retain 4 players at max. Either 3 Indian and 1 overseas or 2 Indian 2 overseas. Teams had a difficult choice to made about whom to retain from many players at their disposal.
The 2 new franchises were given 3 choices to pick from after the existing franchise had retained their players (only 4) but before the auction. So new teams have also picked up 3 players for each team. So now all the action and focus is on ipl auction. Total 576 players have registered for this auction out of which 228 are capped players ( players who got caps for their respective countries) and 356 are uncapped players. While 7 players belong to associate nations. Even players from USA and Bhutan have registered themselves for the auction.
If you see the auction dynamics for this year, it being a mega auction don’t expect teams to break banks on one single player (like Rajasthan did the last auction with Chris Morris) Also this auction where many superstars are available there will be a bidding war. Many Pundits have started to guess who will be the highest earner of this auction majority agree on Shreyas Iyer as one Let’s see what happens on the auction day.
https://youtu.be/2DTQzaEdhdY
Another big news relating to ipl is the 2 new teams had to reveal their names and logo by 31st January. But as of today, only the Lucknow team has done that while Ahmedabad is keeping its cards close. They haven’t released their name nor their logo as of now. If the Ahmedabad team doesn’t reveal their name and logo before the auction day then BCCI will be forced to give them temporary names for auction days. BCCI did same thing back in 2011 when the Pune Warriors hadn’t officially reviled their name so BCCI for auction days gave the name as Team Pune same might happen with Ahmedabad.
Since its auction week drama will be increasing each day. Don’t forget to follow us for all the latest ipl mega auction2022.
