Burning To Speak About Plaid
So every now and then a meme/gif/short vid gets posted again about the question from the Tampa MegaCon in October 2016. And for why-ever it sticks in people's heads I'll never know. I guess because it was such a particularly direct and curious inquiry with no specific reference except a plaid suit. If you've seen my recent re-blog (from mizgnomer) just before this one you know the question but at the risk of being repetitive, "Did Georgia burn the plaid suit?"
"Why would she burn it?" David asked. The problem for me was identifying which one. You see, in my excitement to ask this question for my friend Cheryl, unable to attend, she had texted me the question before the panel. Of course in the pressure of the moment of David's return question to me I completely blanked. After the panel, of course I knew precisely which one Cheryl meant: the suit he wore on the Jonathan Ross Show 11-14-2015 (pictured above). But like a deer in headlights and suddenly aware all eyes and ears were on me I simply forgot. I should have gotten the specifics confirmed from Cheryl so I could look on my phone for that answer. Stupid me! Instead I stumbled in thought as an utterly ignorant response from my mouth spilled out, "I don't know" along with shrugging shoulders. How totally embarrassing! And how I am constantly reminded of that idiotic moment in time EVERY time the plaid suit question is reposted.
It's worse that than though. I have a degree in Broadcast Communications, and in my time I have been on stage acting, singing, and dancing, on the radio as a DJ, have hosted shows in college, plus I have a YT channel and have spoken eloquently on many subjects in front of small groups and those as large as that Tampa panel; where I will forever be remembered for my heinously stupid stammering and Cheryl's question. Sigh- but I can laugh at myself and say, at least I'm remembered for something and possibly by David himself (and Georgia?) - lol!
Thank God Aaron, the panel host, was kind enough to let me ask MY question that seems to have melted into oblivion. On the surface it seems a fairly innocuous, possibly throw away question but it was- in my opinion- a very telling and clever sort of question. David threw it over to Billie, then Aaron answered it and again thankfully he threw it back to David to answer. I was thrilled for them all responding to my own question and David being so kind about the "plaid suit" thing. He said, "Sorry about the suit." I smiled at him saying, "Oh no problem wasn't my question was it."
Then I took my second row seat on the isle with the perfect straight on view of David and continued to record the panel with my little camera on its tripod. So that's the story from my viewpoint. Though I'm not really pleased I'm inferred to be an idiot for asking that question just know I was simply trying to bring some happiness to a friend unable to come due of her poor health and the unfortunate living situation she was in at the time.
I'm not looking for any of you to respond or sympathize or further insult me about this but, as an old radio show host named Paul Harvey would say: that's the rest of the story.
And for the record- I Love plaid and the new look we've seen for the 10th Doctor! I adore ALL the suits David's ever worn plaid or otherwise. He can never look terrible in anything- he's just that attractive (to me anyway).
5-30-22: Addendum- Forgot to add that I was quite full of DayQuil that day as I had a raging cold- so I guess I can fob off the brain-blank out on that too!- lol
Until next timey wimey, Lady A
