Everyone at school knew Johnny Lawrence.
They knew the confident smirk, the leather jacket, the tough attitude, and the way he walked through the halls like he owned them.
To everyone else, Johnny was untouchable—too cool to care, too stubborn to show weakness.
But you knew a different Johnny.
The Johnny who only existed when it was just the two of you.
His house was your favorite place to be because the second the door closed behind you, the act disappeared.
“Hey,” he said softly when you walked in one afternoon.
You smiled. “Hey.”
Before you could even say anything else, Johnny wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into a hug. It was completely different from the person everyone else saw. No attitude. No pretending.
Just Johnny.
“You miss me?” he teased, but the small smile on his face gave him away.
“You saw me this morning.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
You laughed as he pressed a quick kiss to your forehead.
At school, nobody would believe that Johnny Lawrence was the kind of guy who would sit with you on his couch, let you steal his jacket, and listen to you talk about your day while playing with your fingers.
Nobody would believe that he smiled the most when you were around.
His friends saw the tough version of him.
The one who joked around, acted fearless, and never let anyone think they could get to him.
But whenever you came over after school, he’d drop the act almost immediately.
“You know,” you said one day, sitting beside him, “everyone thinks you’re so scary.”
Johnny rolled his eyes. “I am scary.”
You raised an eyebrow.
Then he sighed when he saw your expression.
“Okay, maybe not with you.”
You smiled. “You’re different when we’re alone.”
Johnny looked away, suddenly quieter.
“Is that bad?”
You shook your head. “No. I like knowing the real you.”
For a moment, the confident Johnny disappeared completely.
The one underneath—the one who cared more than he admitted—looked back at you.
“Don’t tell anyone,” he mumbled.
You smiled. “Your secret’s safe.”
He nodded, then leaned closer and kissed you gently.
“Good.”
The next day at school, Johnny was back to being Johnny Lawrence.
He walked through the halls with his usual confidence, joking with his friends and pretending nothing bothered him.
But when he passed you, he gave you the smallest smile.
The kind nobody else noticed.
The kind that reminded you that behind the tough guy everyone knew was the Johnny only you got to see.
