MegaFaces: Kinetic Facade Shows Giant 3D 'Selfies'
It’s time to dig out those GB flags and brush off that British Pride because it’s time for our athletes to do battle once again; the Sochi Winter Olympic Games. However, our sporting heroes won’t be the only ones on show, visitors can become part of the Olympics too thanks to Asif Khan’s MegaFaces installation. Supporters can have their face photographed and then transformed into an eight-meter high 3D mould on the side of a building. The building’s ‘skin’ is made up of over 10,000 actuators, which create the 3D portraits much like a huge pin screen. It’s expected that over 170,000 faces will be displayed throughout the Olympics.
