my mom said some really hurtful things to me in a text on tuesday night and i can’t stop thinking about them. part of me feels like starting to write a fic again just so i can think about plot ideas and dialogue and all the little details while i’m at work mindlessly making pasta and gelato and cakes and then writing when i’m home alone instead of dwelling on the fact that apparently my mother regrets having children because we bring her no joy and she doesn’t want “the job” of being my mother anymore.
the real reason i hesitate to write steddie fanfic is because i know absolutely nothing about smoking pot and that’s like 100% necessary in a steddie fic and i feel like researching it can only help so much but it won’t sound genuine and will sound like a 14 year old writing a sex scene.

hi everyone i just wanted to once again touch on a topic that’s really important to me: the characterization of mixed people in media.
in to all the boys i’ve loved before the covey sisters are all shown as overly asian in their appearance. so much so that lara jean the main character is portrayed by a fully asian actress and in the books is constantly compared to cho chang during halloween regardless of her costume
on the other end of the spectrum, callum from the dragon prince bares no resemblance to his mother who is shown to be an asian woman. he is pale, with large green eyes and no features that show his heritage
the more common theme in animation is seen in young justice. the crock sisters are striking in resemblance to one of their parents. artemis shows very little sign of being mixed, due to her blonde hair and grey eyes, while jade is asian coded, with black hair. however, there are some overlaps in artemis, with her eyes being closer to her filipino mother than to her dad.
overall i guess i’m just saying that i would love to see more realistic showings of mixed families. i wanna see siblings that actually look related. i know genetics are crazy but the likelihood of two siblings looking so opposite is really low and i’d love to be able to see characters who actually look like me and my siblings. i know this was focused more on asian/white mixed but this is only because i am speaking on what i experience based on my life as a Wasian and i am very open to hearing from other mixed people with similar or different backgrounds :)

i don't really know what i'm hoping or trying to do with this post but i've been writing fanfic for a while—actually wrote for a while, then took a long hiatus and now i'm back to finish a fic—in the one direction/harry styles/niall horan fandom. but i'm hoping to dabble in steddie. (probably not until i'm done with this fic because i really just need to focus on completing it before i do anything else!) i'll probably just start with some little drabbles and oneshots but will hopefully work my way up to longer chaptered fics. so i just want to introduce myself to the steddie fandom! please say hello, talk to me about steddie, tell me what you love in steddie fics, anything! i'd love to get to know you!
