hizashi's go-to gag is absolutely whipping off his sunglasses and ogling and wolf-whistling at shouta while shouta just pouts at him like. it wasn't funny the first hundred times hizashi. bonus points if they're not together yet and are mutual pining

Aizawa nearly smacked himself in the forehead as he closed the door to his son’s room, accidentally slamming it a bit too hard.
Ugh, he’d never thought he’d be the type of parent to be... clingy? Was he being clingy? He rolled his eyes as he sauntered back to the living room.
Friday nights were their established family movie nights- had been since Hitoshi wasn’t even old enough to speak.
Shouta had held the babbling infant to his chest and drifted to sleep on the couch with the newest animated movie playing softly on the flickering screen.
It had been his secret trick for getting the inquisitive little one to fall asleep most nights.
But it had continued into his double-digits and then into his teens. Neither of them had ever missed a movie night.
Which was why Shouta found it strange that Hitoshi was almost twenty-minutes late on this particular night.
So he’d tapped on the door to his son’s room, not thinking twice about cracking the door open only to find Hitoshi chatting animatedly on a video call with what looked to be at least four or five other teens his age.
It was... unusual, to be frank. Hitoshi had struggled to make friends at school, so as much as Shouta had hoped their big move and fresh start at UA would be different, he hadn’t exactly expected much.
And here he’d gone and interrupted.
He cringed as he slumped into the couch, staring up at the menu screen for the DVD he’d slipped in a half hour ago.
“Hey, Dad.”
He looked up to see the purple-haired teen hovering in the doorway, one hand clasped behind his elbow as he avoided eye contact.
Shouta cleared his throat, “Hey kid- er, sorry I barged in like that.”
“No, no, it’s okay,” Hitoshi shuffled over to the couch and plopped into place beside him, “Those are my... friends.”
Shouta felt a thrill of happiness pinch his cheeks as he bit back a grin, “Yeah?”
Hitoshi saw the spark in his eyes and bumped his shoulder, “Yeah, or something.”
“Well,” Shouta leaned back into the couch and eyed his son, “You know you can keep talking to them right? You don’t have to skip out just for... this.”
He gestured to the screen and the small pile of candies on the coffee table.
Hitoshi shrugged, “It’s okay.”
“No, really,” Shouta waved a hand again, “You don’t have to sit around with your old man and watch old movies, Toshi, I know that’s, y’know... lame?”
He cringed again and inwardly rolled his eyes at himself. Sometimes he wondered how he’d survived as a dad for this long.
Hitoshi pursed his lips before he too settled back into the couch cushions, making a point to press their sides together, “I want to, Dad.”
Shouta bit back a smile after a moment of surprised silence as he slung a familiar arm over his son’s shoulders and started the movie, his heart full.
Perhaps someday soon his son wouldn’t attend every Friday movie night - he’d go out with friends or, god forbid, even start dating, but for the time being, as long as Hitoshi wanted to, Shouta would cherish every moment.
1. Uncommon hc that I am deeply attached to. Aizawa isn’t totally straight laced “do it because it’s the rules”. Aizawa works with vigilantes and criticizes the system and thinks critically about the rules.
2. Widely held hc that I reject: Aizawa is a human disaster and can’t care for himself. Aizawa is a grown ass adult and can take care of himself. Yes he sleeps in a sleeping bag, yes he drinks jelly packs. But I think it’s just him being smart with his time and resources
3. Early life. I’m actually a big fan of Aizawa having like tech mogul parents who are distant and busy but not abusive. He was the “weird” kids all in school but never got a lot of trouble for it because he had so much money
4. Symbols/motifs. Black cats, bandages, an unmade bed, bright eyes in a dark night.
5.Other character’s I have in mind when writing them. I think about some type of power or system that Aizawa can work and push against, whether societal or just a villain. I think about the best friend who isn’t put off by the attitude, the “you’re the only one who stayed/understands me” trope (mic)
6.What I project onto them. Hmmm, (I think I forgot this question for shinsou). I project a need to be loved and approved of onto Aizawa. Not a want for recognition, but a reassurance that he’s doing the right thing.
7. A surprising hobby. Aizawa loves video games like mario cart or mario party where he can destroy his friends. Aizawa likes nature. nerdy shit like bird watching and identifying random plants
mic sleeps like the dead. like, the minute he’s out, he’s out. aizawa, on the other hand, is very much the type of guy who tosses and turns in his sleep, cocoons himself in blankets then throws them on the floor, wraps himself around hizashi like an octopus and then tries to kick him on the floor. he also snores like a fucking chainsaw.
when they’re just relaxing on the couch together, they both equally love cuddling each other, though.
10. who likes sweet/who likes sour?
i was about to say i don’t think aizawa likes either of those, that he prefers blander flavours, but considering he lives on energy gel (which is sweet), likes salty liquorice (also sweet.. kind of) and drinks gin and tonic (sweet!), i’m gonna go with aizawa being a guy who likes sweets. he’s entirely unashamed of it.
mic doesn’t like sweet and cannot handle sour food even a little bit. even citrus fruits like clementines and nectarines are too sour for him. on the other hand, he can handle bitter like a champ - catch this man walking into starbucks and asking if the barista can fill a venti cup with nothing but espresso shots.

Yamada Mikoto’s melodic pleading was cut off by another shrill, ear-splitting screech as the blonde-haired baby in her arms wailed, green eyes spilling fat tears down his cheeks.
She groaned as she set Hizashi down onto the floor in front of her crossed legs and covered her ears, squeezing her eyes shut as her head pounded.
“Hizashiiii- please!” She raised her voice of his shrill screech as his quirk activated at a low level.
When he didn’t stop wailing, she curled her hands into fists over her ears until she could feel her nails digging into the skin on her scalp. She growled under her breath as she felt herself reaching her wit’s end, frustration mounting.
“What the hell is all that screaming about?!” Her husband shouted angrily as he entered the room, eyes already narrowed into a glare.
He first looked at his seated wife then his crying son, eyebrows furrowing further as an angry wrinkle formed on his brow.
Mikoto squinted her eyes open at him and grimaced, “He’s teething!”
“I don’t give a damn if he was dying!” Her husband snapped as he marched across the room, “Get the boy to shut the hell up!”
“I can’t!” Mikoto threw her hands up uselessly as Hizashi continued to cry, “I’ve tried everything!”
Her husband came to a stop in front of the wailing child, stopping his foot onto the floor loud enough to startle the blonde boy whose shrill cries tapered off into confused whimpers.
He glared as he leaned down and pointed a calloused finger into the young boy’s face, “You listen to me, you little brat! You’ve got the worst quirk in the history of quirks!”
Wide, bloodshot green eyes stared up at the red-faced man, the boy’s lower lip wobbling as snot dripped down his chin.
The man glowered at him, “And you need to learn to control it or else next time, I’ll come in here with duct tape, you understand?!”

Hizashi jolted up in bed, words ringing in his ears as he heaved in a deep breath. A knot was lodged in his throat, panicked fear crawling up his chest as he bit down on the cry that he could feel building up in his belly.
So annoying, he was the worst, everyone hated him, he was such a failure-
He fought the urge to hyperventilate as he shoved the heavy blankets off of his legs, swinging them over the side of the bed and shooting a sidelong glance back at his friends.
They were having a sleepover at Oboro’s house tonight, their first weekend together since summer break had begun.
Shouta was curled onto his side and clutching a pillow close to his chest, face peaceful and calm as he breathed softly. Oboro was sprawled in the center of the bed, limbs akimbo as he snored softly through his slack jaw.
Hizashi felt his breathing slow as he watched his best friends rest, swallowing as he chewed nervously at his lip and let the panic spurred by the nightmare ebb away.
He turned and quietly opened the blue-haired boy’s bedroom window, crawling out onto the roof as he’d done dozens of times in the past with the other two boys.
The night was comfortingly silent, the kind that settled over Hizashi like a blanket muting the pangs of sorrow in his chest.
Oboro and Shouta never called him loud or annoying... they never told him he was too much or doing anything wrong. Were they just being nice?
No.
Shouta was brutally honest, there was no way he would put on an act about enjoying Hizashi’s company.
And Oboro was adorably candid - honest almost to a fault and, more often than not, matching the voice user’s energy.
Screw his birth parents.
They’d abandoned him anyways not long after that night - put him up for adoption and never looked back.
He was better off without them.
