Vintage photo of Knockmany passage tomb in county Tyrone. Also known as the cairn of Queen Anya. It is arguably the finest example of Megalithic Art in Ulster. Today an enclosure has been built around the stones to protect them.

Sorting out some older stuff and came across a series I did quite a few years ago. A World Heritage site, San Agustín is an archeological area that is best visited in the morning when the soft light baths the more than 500 statues in a pleasant warmness and the sultry air of Columbia has not risen to make one sweat profusely. And hire a good guide as part of the experience. Some speak only Spanish and others, seven languages.
The atmosphere inside the park is very calm and relaxing. To admire the craftsmanship of the monolithic structures conjures up romantic ideas of a lost world enlightened through their spiritual connections and who, unfortunately, met an untimely collapse.
Hardly any information exists on the lost cultures or civilization who created these statues but the well kept location is one of the most beautiful places in Columbia and is definitely worth the visit for those interested.
