Because I’m sick of the fandom trope of adult!Spyro and Malefor’s son being enemies, I decided it was time to do something about it. Meet Mekhitar, Malefor’s cloned son and Spyro and Flame’s third adopted child. Mekhitar was a failed cloning experiment by Malefor, born out of Malefor’s desire for a “worthy” heir, and was carved by Malefor out of crystal and brought to life by his magic. Once Malefor realized that his new creation couldn’t match his impossible standards for a son, he deactivated his new child and abandoned him, leaving a lifeless statue of a dragon whelpling to sit alone for years...until Spyro accidentally stumbled across the construct and reanimated it with his magic while exploring one of Malefor’s old strongholds with Flame years after the Dark Master’s defeat. He got quite the shock when he touched the statue and it turned to a living, breathing dragon whelpling!
Mekhitar is nothing but a sweet boy and an absolute joy for his adopted dads. Mekhitar’s name means “comforter”, and he lives up to his name. He hates seeing others in pain, and wants nothing more than to make others happy. He also really likes soft things, and has a hoard of blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals. He is autistic and semiverbal, and is hyperempathetic (conflict and other people’s negative emotions stress him out), and has problems with emotional regulation and communication. He mostly sticks close to his dads and siblings, Zella and Adrano. He has very close to relationship to his “Auntie” Ember, and the two adore each other, but he doesn’t interact much with her wife Cynder. Cynder bears no ill will towards him, and wishes him nothing but the best, but he still looks too much like Malefor for her comfort. Mekhitar doesn’t yet know of his creator’s story, but Spyro and Flame plan to tell him when he’s mature enough to understand and cope with what Malefor did. Mekhitar also hasn’t discovered any of his elemental powers yet, but when he does, Spyro wants to teach him himself.
