One thing I missed the most this year is traveling and seeing great gardens. I wasn’t aware that this is so important to me before traveling for pleasure was not an option anymore due to Covid. Can you relate? I hope next year things change but we will see. It is certain though, once it is safe to travel, the next chance I get, I will book a ticket to England and visit its amazing public and private gardens, again. There is hardly anything in my life that has made me happier than the memorable vacation trips with my husband to this beautiful country. Until then, photos must help to tie me over. I hope you enjoy this and future posts of British gardens that I have visited in the past. The image shows a scene from the stunningly beautiful Arts and Craft Garden of Great Chatfield Manor, located near Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire. Isn’t the clipped humongous yew garden feature gorgeous? This “tree house” is formed out of four yews that have grown together over time. It is hollow inside and one can walk through. I love how this formal structure is contrasted by the romantic billowing cottage style garden beds in the foreground. By the way, Great Chatfield Manor has been a film location for the very successful British TV series Poldark which has been loved by many Americans, too. Wishing everyone who celebrates it a lovely 4th of Advent. Oh wow, the hail we just had in Melksham was astonishing. It felt like the building was being pelted with rocks, it set off my neighbour's car alarm and the big pieces of ice have covered everything in piles like heavy snow.

This was after some of the coolest forked lightning displays I've seen.

This painted lady butterfly caught my eye in the car park.

I was excited to see ducklings at the riverside today.

I couldn't capture it on video, but there were huge swarms of mayfly around the River Avon in Melksham yesterday.
