As I continue reviewing music theory and practicing scales on GarageBand keyboard, I have come to something I don’t remember AT ALL from my lessons - Harmonic and Melodic Minor Scales. Put simply (for my own benefit) Harmonic and Melodic Scales have extra sharpened notes to create a smoother ascending and descending Sounding Scale. With Harmonic Scales, it is a sharpened seventh note, both ascending and descending the scale. With the Melodic Scales a sharpened sixth note is added. However, the sharpened notes are ONLY added on the ascension of the Scale, NOT when descending. Couldn’t understand why until I tried it on the keyboard. Adding sharpened seventh and sixth notes DOES sound off when descending the scale. #reviewingmusictheory #harmonicminorscale #harmonicminor #melodicminorscale #melodicminor #naturalminor #naturalminorscale #music #theory #musictheory #associatedboardoftheroyalschoolsofmusic #associatedboard #bestexamresult #drums #drumming #rudiments #rudimentsofmusic #redbook #redmusicbook #grades (at Leicester, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAXBhEYHTW8/?igshid=1jxk2iw3of3as
