Nugu GG of the Week #545 : Melody Day (part 1)

Melody Day is a 4 member girl consisting of Yeoeun, Yoomin, Yein and Chahee, and they were group from 2012 to 2018. They are similar to groups like BVNDIT (y'all still streaming Venom?) and Rocket Punch (y'all still streaming Ring Ring?) where they feel nugu but aren't quite full nugus aka they were signed under a decent label aka a sub-sidary of APink 's company and the same label that eventually debuted The Boyz. However I do feel their music is underappreciated so let's take a week and remember these icons 🫡

During their time they only released 2 mini albums, 3 single albums and several digital singles/collabs. They actually didn't properly debut until 2014, for 2012-2013 they were releasing numerous OSTs.

They debuted with the ballad, Another Parting, a solid ballad track with great vocals, solid band arrangement for the production and pretty melody. The song was paired with a story driven MV that starred actor Seo In Guk and actress Wang Jiwon, the MV even won their one award their whole career for best MV at the Melon Music Awards, so the memorable MV and OST releases definitely helped get their name out there to the public and they had a moderately okay debut because the song charted #69. They've only charted 3 times with their official singles, the other 2 had well known male rappers (😡 🤡 & Mr Jail Time of VIXX) so I assume that's why those songs charted.

The b-side I chose is Oh My Guy which features a "narration" from Yijeong of History, the boy group from Fiestar (y'all still streaming You're Pitiful?) and IU label. He also did a narration on IU's hit song Friday 🤔 his voice is fine but it makes me wonder is he viewed by the public of having a great talking voice? I digress. The song is a b-side from their #LoveMe single album released in 2015. Song is a cute track that's sweet to the ears, reminds me of that one Gavy NJ track (y'all still streaming Shubirubrub?).
