39 weeks!

Had my 39 week appointment today! While the resident doctor (same as last week?? Wow I need to buy a lotto ticket, that's unheard of! Not only having a resident doc twice in 2 weeks, but the SAME one!) was checking my cervix/dilation he asked if I wanted a membrane sweep. Husband and I spoke about it before since we knew about it, and we spoke to multiple doctors and nurses prior and there isn't a lot of risk for low risk pregnancies, so we decided to go for it. With the chance of 1/6 helping, why not. But I can't help but think my chances are low.

Afterwards, I had some spotting and there was some blood on the residents glove. I had light spotting on the pad after, and when I wiped. About 2 hours after, there was little little bits of dark bloody 'snot' in the toilet bowl. Nothing when I wiped though. As per instruction, I went home and had a hot bath (compared to what I have been having... 😓😓 Barely lukewarm baths are gross...) and relaxed... then there was nothing. No spotting since that 2 hour mark after. Still nothing.  Family is getting frustrating. They keep spouting how they’re so ready for baby, “So hurry it up!!” Meanwhile, what causes me so much stress and anxiety!? Like, what, do you think I’m WANTING her to stay in there forever? I’m not dilated, not effaced, and baby is doing so many cartwheels, she’s transverse right now. My dad, mom, in-laws, even strangers now are all saying, “Ooh, you’re achey? Baby is coming!” “Wait, you feel great, no aches today? Baby is coming!!” Sigh. I’ve got a 41 week ultrasound booked in case from the doctor, induction date set for the 16th in case nothing is progressed, unless other problems come up before that. Also!! Today was my last day of work! Everyone was so kind. 😍 I can’t wait to meet the other babies born from the department!! My coworker a week ahead of me had her little guy. He’s soo cute and has the fullest head of hair. So cute!! They’re home and doing so well. Can’t wait to meet up and go on mommy/baby dates! 😍😍

TMI?

I mean, it’s a pregnancy blog. Y’all expect that right? Haha

After the midwife appt we walked on the beach for about 40 minutes, then went home & ate lunch, then did some grocery shopping. So lots of walking.

I was having some cramping and a ton of back pain around 2pm so I decided to lay down to see if I could time them. Ended up passing out lol. I woke up about an hour later & felt less uncomfortable. Took it easy the rest of the afternoon; just a bit of bouncing on my exercise ball.

Around 7 we had sex. Ry said my cervix was SUPER low; don’t know if that really means anything. But I feel like it’s worth noting because he wouldn’t have said anything if it wasn’t very out of the ordinary.

The cramping is back, going to sit back and see if I can time them at all.

Membrane sweep

I have my sweep today (at 39 weeks) and I'm beyond nervous. I've been reassured that it isn't too painful but I still can't knock the nerves😣 Hopefully she will be able to tell me if I'm at all dilated of effaced. I'm not getting my hopes up to much, but secretly I'm still wishing that this gets things going. I've been in pain for weeks now, so I really hope this is it. But if not, that's totally fine. Mummy & daddy are just very very impatient and everyone is ready for this little bubba.

Birth Story

A little back info. My husband is 6'6 and was 10lbs 7oz when he was born. I am 5'2 and was 6lbs 4oz when I was born. My son had been showing in the 97th percentile on our last ultrasound about a month before I gave birth. Of course there was a little talk of about having a c-section but I wanted to try my hardest to have him vaginally. The day before my son was born I went to my weekly OBGYN appt. I was 2cm dilated and 90% thinned and had been for about three weeks. My OB stripped my membranes since the following day was my due date. This was about 9:30 in the morning. Hubby and I went for a little walk when we got home to try and help get things moving. I even bounced on a yoga ball for a good hour. Twelve o'clock rolled around and I started to feel some light cramping so I decided to just lay down and take a nap. Woke up around three to use the bathroom and I lost my mucous plug! I was so excited I got back on the yoga ball to help move things along even faster lol I started having contractions at around 8:30PM. They say to wait an hour and then go to the hospital but the hospital I delivered at was a good 30 min drive from the house so after 30 mins of my contractions going from every 7mins to every 4 mins we packed up the car and headed to the hospital. When we got to triage the nurse measured me and I was 3 cm dilated. She told me to go walk around the hospital for 45mins and come back. I tried my hardest but my contractions were coming every three minutes and I just could not handle the pain. So I went back to triage and sat down for the remaining 15 mins. Then nurse measured me and I was still 3cm. Even though I was having consistent contractions every three minutes she gave me an Ambien to try to help me sleep and sent me home and told me to come back if the contractions got worse. We got back home and not even 15 mins later and I told my husband that they've gotten 10x worse and to drive us back to the hospital. When we got back to triage the nurse checked me and I was 4cm dilated and she FINALLY admitted me. Got up to the labor and delivery room, by this point I was begging for an epidural. Got the epidural and I'm pretty sure the Ambien from earlier kicked in because the next thing I remember a nurse came in to check my progress and I was 8cm dialted. We just had to wait on a Dr. to come and break my water. The nurse came back 10 mins later to tell us the Dr. would be right in and to check me again. She checked I was fully dialted and my water had broke. Luckily my OB walked in at the perfect time. I put mu feet up in the stirrups so she could what was going on and the next thing she said was "He's crowning. You ready to push?" I pushed for 15 mins and gave birth to my wonderful healthy son. He was 8lbs 6oz and 21.5 inches long.

Pregnancy Update

I’m 39 weeks and 6 days. My due date is tomorrow, October 3rd.

I had a doctor appointment today. I got my cervix checked. I am 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced (at 36 weeks I was 1 cm and 60%). Also, even though it doesn’t look it on the outside, he has dropped. He is in -1 station, which is a good sign.

I asked my dr to perform a membrane sweep, which she did. 

Ever since I got it done I’ve had period cramp like pains and TONS of pressure.

I’m really really realllyyyy hoping that he decides to make his debut tonight, considering that his daddy doesn’t work on Saturday and Sunday and is only allowed one day off of work (he hasn’t been there for 6 months yet, so he’s still in his probationary period where they are only allowed one day). So it would be absolutely ideal if he came tonight.
