A mend that I'm working on, and how you can make it artistic in a way by stitching a bit freeform.
All the stitch is, is a running stitch, but there's a lot of stitches made, to really tack down the patch. The rough side is the inside, and the one that looks a bit cleaner is the outside.
I hope this helps anyone out there with ideas on what you can do. My main tip with this technique, is keep your stitches small, and go wild with the colors.
The pants themselves are 95% cotton, and 5% spandex, and I believe the patch was the same as well just in a twill weave. The thread is 100% egyptian cotton for hand quilting or hand sewing, in variegated colors, and the needle I used was a "ballpoint" needle
