The IOC having Todd Richards’ ranting about the travesty that was Ayumu Hirano’s second run score taken down is terrible, because A: that shit was funny! And B: I would think an American commentator going to bat for a Japanese athlete like that is good in terms of international friendship and all. That score was so bad the crowd booed. I mean…

If he hadn’t had a good third run that they didn’t screw him over on, they’d have had another controversy on their hands, and sure, not as bad as the toxic wasteland that figure skating is becoming, but anybody with eyeballs could see Ayumu’s score was completely out of line, and it was only right for that to be immediately addressed in no uncertain terms.

Glad I lived through it, at least, because it was an Olympic highlight for me. Todd was deeply offended, and we can laugh about it now because the right person still ended up winning! Put the whole video back up!
