For the headcanon ask thingy can you do Nancy and Dustin?

Nancy

Sexuality Headcanon: I think i lean towards Bi Nancy. mostly because I genuinely believe she was in love with Jonathan while she was with Steve. S1 - S2 Jancy mean so much to me but, I do love Lesbian Nancy a lot. It’s fun to think about sometimes and I think there is some evidence with canon for comphet Nancy or maybe I just read too much lesbian Nancy posts. Regardless tho, I just love to imagine a modern au Nancy reading the lesbian master doc and just having a moment of “everything makes sense now” because that’s her. (Projecting? Maybe)

Gender Headcanon: this is so complicated for me. Like gnc Nancy has such a grip on me and I think it’s brillant. I think though, I mostly lean towards she/he enby Nancy but I love me he/him gnc Nancy. He’s just a lil dude (neutral btw) I would never see a trans man. I’ve seen some stuff about people shipping ftm Nancy with Robin and like, no. If I ever reblogged a post like that, please tell me so, I can delete ty. I most likely assumed it was enby Nancy with he/him pronouns.

A ship I have with said character: Ronance <3 That’s my endgame. My #1 Ship for her. I just think their dreams line up so well. They’re just destined to travel and live together.

A BROTP I have with said character: Max!! I need more interactions with them honestly. I just love the idea of Max looking up to Nancy and Nancy taking Max in as her own sister.

A NOTP I have with said character: Steve. I honestly can not stand them after Vol 2. I really can’t. They just give me such an ick.

A random headcanon: Nancy’s first kiss was with Barb at one of their sleepovers. It was one of those moments where it was like “What if we got our first kiss out of the way? That way there isn’t any pressure for when we do kiss boys.” such a sapphic thing to do.

General Opinion over said character: I literally fell in love with her during season 1. She’s the light of my life and no one understands her like I do. She just means so much to me and I will always defend her because she did nothing wrong ever and people don’t understand her I swear to god, I see so many bad takes on her and it’s like “how about you just don’t talk about Nancy and stick to characters you actually like?” Which now that I think about it, that’s also just her arc in season 3. No one understands or listens to her. They don’t believe her and she wants to be right so badly. God, Nancy my beloved. I just have so many feelings on her. She’s in my top 5 characters. I just want her to have her journalist dream ending. I want her to get away from Hawkins and peruse her dream so badly. I just want her to be happy. She deserves it so much and honestly, I really hope the duffers don’t do her dirty in season 5.

Dustin

Sexuality Headcanon: Ace or Demi. I don’t mind either one, I just think he falls on the Ace spectrum. He’s definitely Panromantic too.

Gender Headcanon: honestly this is so simple for me. Non-binary Dustin means everything to me. “My gender is no” kinda vibes. Any pronouns for them. They’re just a good dude.

A ship I have with said character: Henclair <3 I’ve been seeing so much tiktoks of them on my fy page I just love them. Lucas and Dustin my beloveds. They’re just so good.

A BROTP I have with said character: I have way too many brotps for Dustin. I think lately I’ve been thinking about Will and Dustin a lot. Their hug in Vol 2 is so just special to me and the “We need Will” line as well. God, he just missed Will so much. Also, I did an rp once where Dustin was having nightmares and felt guilty about Will disappearing and feeling responsible. The angst potential for them is so real. Anyways, I just think Byerson is overall so good.

A NOTP I have with said character: I mean I’ve seen some questionable stuff on ao3 so like, Eddie & Steve. Those are his dads and the age gap is just gross. Dni if you ship, thank you. So uncomfortable with that.

A random headcanon: Dustin takes Drama in gr. 10 or 11. He’s such a theatre kid, I swear. I can see him being a lead role too.

General Opinion over said character: Dustin is genuinely underrated and I love him a lot. I feel like he’s just the glue when it comes to the og party like I feel like he balances things out between them and always the peacekeeper when it comes to fights. Also they’re genuinely more of a parental figure than his own mom and it makes me so sad to think about. I have so many feelings and I think I’m just excited for Dustin to have a real arc in season 5. I just know he’s going to have the guilt of Eddie on him and like I feel like he’s likely going to be heavily focused on not losing another friend and if he isn’t then that’s how I know s5 will be bad cause they can’t just not address Dustin’s feelings or trauma after they made him suffer in vol 2 like that.

• How I feel about this character

I have such a soft spot for Lucas and he’s such a comfort character to me. He’s just such a good friend and he can do no wrong. He would be so good to talk too especially about like feelings and troubles because he tries to understand and when he doesn’t, he’ll ask so he could. he deserves so much love. 🥺 I want to buy the Lucas On The Line book so badly. It’s on my book list.

• All the people I ship romantically with this character

Max, Will and Dustin

I am such a multi-shipper and I’m usually open to ships (unless it’s a huge notp for me or problematic) but tbh Lucas ships in general are superior— I can easily get pursued into shipping another. Like how does one not multiship with him? I mean Lumax? They’re so in love and so good for each other. I honestly didn’t ship them until s4 but like they became such an otp so fast for me and like rewatching after s4, they were so cute 🥺 Byclair? I get so soft over them and the more I talk about them, the more I get feels. jock/artist ship that are also big nerds? Yes pls. They’re just precious and mean so much to me. Henclair? They’re just cute and I may not think about them often but when I do, yeah I get feels and just they’re such a good ship. I love them.

• My non-romantic OTP for this character

EL MY BELOVED

Oh my god. I just love platonic Hopclair so much. It’s about the way Lucas went from being hostile because he thought El was going to replace Will only to care so much for her and become friends with her. I just love them and I think they developed so well into a friendship. I absolutely expect Hopclair in season 5 to be so close. Especially since they both lost Max. Speaking of which, the idea of Elumax with Platonic Hopclair?? PEAK. Yes they share a girlfriend while being best friends your honor.

• My unpopular opinion about this character

I have no idea if this is unpopular anymore but like, I remember hearing a lot of hate on this. Lucas playing basketball and wanting to not be seen as a loser? Absolutely understandable. He just wanted an easy life and that’s so hard for him, especially in the 80s. I genuinely don’t blame him at all and he looked so happy out there too.

• One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon

Honestly, I wish they were more explicit on the racism that Lucas experiences. Not like slurs— I hated when they had it in season 1 and I’m glad Dacre didn’t say any because there’s more ways of showing racism without that but, like maybe if we saw more scenes from other characters in which it paralleled to Billy’s behavior towards Lucas, it wouldn’t get misinterpreted as “Big Brother Protectiveness” because it definitely isn’t. Billy targeted Lucas and only him. He didn’t attack any of the other party members, he attacked Lucas. Lucas struggles with racism every day and it’s clear to see with his behavior, how he acts in season 1 when around cops and in season 2 when he’s like “you were thinking it” to Mike. Yet the one time we actually see it not from Lucas’ behavior, people be quick to defend Billy and not acknowledge it for what it is. I don’t think Dacre helped with that either when he denied it back during season 2 interviews. I have no idea if he acknowledge it since then but, if he did, I feel like it would be ignored. I hope to god this doesn’t come across as problematic because this mostly stems from the amount of times I’ve rewatched recently.
