Concept: an animated series based on Culhwch and Olwen, with one episode dedicated to every task that Ysbaddaden assigns him.
This is either the best or worst idea ever, I honestly can't tell which.

There it is! A piece for March to Camelot 2025 for the prompt 'Family'. Twrch Twych and his children conversing to Menw and Gwythr from Culhwch and Olwen. This piece was made relatively early but I felt a need to film the process into a full video. I posted it to my YouTube channel if anyone wants to see!
Anyways some bonus concept art I did for this!
The first ink drawing I did of him only leaned into the boar part of him but the next sketch I indicated more about his past as once a human king cursed by God to become a boar. The man pig part of the design was made by pgwodewose first and I just really wanted to riff on the idea... Go look at that one first please!!!
Anyways the illustration has Twrch with a human nose and hands and an indication of his former self in the form of a human looking skin on the top of him. The skin element was actually inspired by the game OFF's Japhet, with the little cat skin on top of him inspiring the boar's original human skin
His children are similarly cursed, but they have human hands and feet instead. I also left a lot of sleepy little piglets because I thought they were adorable. The pigeon in the front of the boar is gwythr talking to Twrch to try and convince him to give him the scissors and comb but the boar doesn't want to let go of the past.... the small falcon on the top of the comb is Menw, who tried to steal the comb and scissors from the boar by lifting it off with his beak but, failing to pick it up, is injured lifelong by the boar.
It's always saddening that Merlin is so well known as Arthur's top wizard when my fav shapeshifting enchanter (chronically ill coded) knight Menw ap teirgwaedd (son of three cries) is right there! Like when he's first introduced in Culhwch and Olwen he's noted for his ability to conjure illusions which they use to avoid having to fight the monstrous hound but when the king of giants tried to throw a dart to try and kill his friends, he catches it with his bare hands and throws it straight at him! The only other guys who is able to throw the dart back being is culhwch (who of course has plot armour being the protag and all) and bedwyr, BLOODY BEDIVERE, Arthur's ultimate spear fighter who can counter nine spears with only one of his own!
He is also asked by Arthur to see if the Twrch Twych the giant boar has the magic shears, an important mcguffin for the story, so that he can fight the boar and collect the treasure. Menw shapeshifts into a bird and finds the shears in between the boar's ears. However, at this point in the story, the giant boar has destroyed a third of Ireland's population so Menw tried to snatch the shears from the boar's ears. This goes badly for Menw as he couldn't grab the shears, only a few of the boar's bristles. This alerts Twrch to his presence and he shakes some poison from his body onto him. From this Menw never 'fully recovered'. Despite this, he still helps Arthur hunt down the Twych Twrch on horseback along with bedwyr and the remaining warriors. True MVP
Extra fun facts:
He's also mentioned in the dream of rhonabwy where he is mentioned to be a trusted advisor of Arthur.
He also appears in the triads as having learnt one of the 'three great enchantments of britain' from Uther Pendragon.
He's also mentioned as having a son Annynawg but no wife in Culhwch (it being aroace week I think, I find his lack of romantic partners to be quite interesting)
Anyways if you couldn't tell, I love this guy, he's got being both an enchanter skilled in illusion making and shapeshifting and a warrior skilled in darts, he feels so unique as a knight of Arthur and like despite being disabled from some wound this doesn't stop him from being a part of Arthur's retinue and being a part of the action...
Anyways, if any of you guys include him in a story or make art of him (or come across something with him in it) tell me and I'll reblog it! Put him in the limelight!
Menw was never president of the United States.

Students most at risk of contracting Meningitis strain
Students most at risk of contracting Meningitis strain
Contrary to popular belief, it is not only babies who can contract meningitis. The strain called MeningitisW has been on the rise since 2009 and puts university students most at risk. The disease causes inflammation of the membranes which surround and protect the brain and spinal cord and can cause a life-changing impact. In 2009 there were only 22 confirmed cases, but this number rose to 117 in…
