Are you gonna draw any art of Jonathan's son, Mephibosheth? For some reason, we (me mostly) dont know who tf his mom is💔

Haha, I’ve actually drawn Mephi, but that was a while ago, but here’s some quick sketches of him! His design needed a makeover lol. Mephi is very special to me. Just like Saul and Jonathan, I love exploring his story as well. I’ve come up with a few headcanons for him, but overall, he’s a very broken character, and I’d imagine him being socially stunted from enduring all the trauma he went through (lame on both feet, abused by his master Ziba, constantly in hiding when shoved into holes before being brought to David). I made him an artist since he can’t do much without walking, so he spends his time crafting and carving wood. He makes his own crutches, and I like to imagine him having a hyperfixation for eagles, because eagles can fly wherever they please unlike him. So most of his carvings are eagles lol. I also had him wear his father’s ring which is the necklace around his neck, where it could have been Jonathan’s gift to Mephi before he died.

As for his mother, yeah we don’t know lol. I do have this headcanon story of Jonathan and his wife, who I named Abital (I think? Might change her name), and she’s very evil to Jonathan, but anyways, I like to imagine that Mephi’s mother died from childbirth and Jonathan raises him as a single father with nurses to take care of him when he’s gone lol

I also like shipping Mephi with David’s son Absalom! Cuz y’know- like father like son heh. Tho, this was @anniflamma ‘s idea to ship them, and I’m surprised I haven’t thought about it until recently lmao, we love history repeating itself 🔥 Mephi x Absalom is like David and Jonathan if they switched places—but yeah, I’m glad you brought him up cuz I lowkey needed to draw him again, it’s been a hot minute 💔

It’s an random thought and purely just a theory at this point but it wouldn’t surprise me if Jonathan adopted him.

Things I’ve learned from 2 Samuel 9

-We are just like Mephibosheth.

-We deserve to have our thumbs and big toes cut off and have to beg for for food like a dog under God’s table.

-We must find comfort in the fact that we are a cripple at God’s table.

-We have nothing to offer God.

-God has given us all we have even though we don’t deserve it at all.

-We have to love the giver more than the gift.

-We must ask ourselves; when everything is taken away from us, how do we react? What if the healing never comes? What if you can’t finish what you started? What if your finances run out?

-We should be content with just being able to sit at God’s table.

-If our joy is found in our gifts then we can lose it.

-Our joy must be found in the giver.

-We are worthless.

-We are nothing.

-God is everything.

-We must totally submit to our king.

-We must not use our crippling as our identity.

-We must find our identity in Christ.

-It is not your crippling that defines you.

-God is the one that defines you.

-One day we will literally sit at the Lord’s table with Him.

-That should be enough for us.

-If you ambitions eclipse your want to see God, that’s a problem.

-We should not be afraid of death because we were given life.

-You couldn’t and can’t do this on your own.

-The only thing God wants is us. All of us. Every ounce of our being.

-God is not impressed by our gifts.

-He is not impressed by anything we do.

-He still loves us and wants us as we are.

-We must be happy and content with being able to be a cripple at God’s table just as Mephibosheth was one at David’s table.
