Threads and Junk - A Merc PSA
Okay so! I have been thinking a lot about my status as a member of the DARP Community lately, what with having a super busy schedule this, my last semester of college.
Basically what I'm looking at is:
Monday/Wednesday: Work 5/6 am - 11:30 am, Class 1 - 5 pm
Tuesday/Thursday: Work 5/6 am - 2 pm, Class, time TBD
Friday: Work 5/6 am - 11:30 am, Class 1 - 3 pm
Saturday/Sunday - Work, time TBD
So that's 40 hours of work a week plus 12 credits. Plus an hour a day 4 days a week of time at the gym, time to walk the dogs, German club, 18-20 hours of career training/job shadowing/interviewing women leaders for my senior seminar project to be completed by November, and two very busy times at work coming up(an inspection time and Oktoberfest, where I'll be working 30 hours at the busiest store in the district in 3 days), and homework.
As such, I'm going to switch up how I do things this semester.
1. First of all: I'm becoming a Selective/Private Blog.
This probably won't actually change the way I function at all, I still like to chat OOC with, well, everyone and interact/submit memes to whoever and I'll probably still do my anon questions whenever the inspiration strikes me. It will, however, make me feel quite a bit better to put out there for new people that their chances for actually having a thread with me are low without making them worry that it's them doing something wrong or not being good enough or whatever.
2. I'll be putting in place a Thread Cap.
I'm going to go for nine threads right now, and respond to them every week. WHEN I will respond to them will probably change -- right now, I'm thinking I'll set aside a block of time either Tuesday or Thursday(since my independent study will only be on one of those days), Friday, and Saturday/Sunday to reply to three threads each day, and then cue them from there to post throughout the week. Which means you can only expect one response a week from me.
I will be doing banters/drabbles/ask memes outside of this that "don't count", just sort of whenever I feel like it/have time. But they'll probably be dropped at the end of the day/hour/whatever period of time.
Right now it looks like I'll have:
1. A Party To Remember with thenoblepariah
2. Something with starsandscimitars
3. Something with ghilannainguideme
4. Something with morefirethanthesun(on whatever blog she chooses)
5. Something with andersspicyshimmy
6. Something with fedupprotector
7. Something with avannafenris
8. Open??
9. Open??
Now, this does not mean that I won't thread with someone if the inspiration strikes or if they're new or something like that, it just means they're not guaranteed a response every week and will probably have to wait in some cases what will likely be a painfully long time.
It does mean that if you're on the list, I'll be doing my best to get you a response every week(as long as I have one to write), and that I'll give you a heads up if I'm not going to make my response time for any reason, as well as feeling really bad(I promise) about it.
3. I'm wiping all my previous threads.
This is the part where I'm a dick, but apologies, aside from A Party To Remember with Tabbi, when I look at my drafts I just... can't.
I think the stress and the sulking got in my head and poisoned thought when I look at those threads, and I just can't type up anything in response to them.
I'm really sorry about it, but I'm not going to stress over writing responses that I hate anymore. There's a new semester, new series of Doctor Who, so I'm just going to take a Deep Breath(get it???) and jump in brand new. All my old threads are dead(with the exception of APTR), and we'll just start over, as long as you're willing.
(the exception to this would be if I've sent you any starters that have not yet been responded to -- I think I have one out with Pandy and one with Coco?? ider, but anyway if you have something out that isn't my turn on there may yet be hope, and I'll let you know if there isn't when that comes up.)
If anything changes, I will most certainly let you know. But for now, this is my plan, and we'll see how well it works!
