Can I just say, I realized that Julian's tail is low key Tim Hortons colors, and I can't unsee it.

Okay but why is Mermaid!Julian in a fishtank? Was he imprisoned by humans? I want to know MORE (please)

I imagined it like one of those aquariums that doubles as a wildlife rehabilitation center (think, like, WCF style). He gets treatment for his eye in a clean, sterile environment, and people can learn about the merfolk in turn.

The place has is best intentions, but sometimes the mers are kept a little too long after they’re recovered. Julianne breaks him out after she’s sure he’s completely okay, because she can’t help but see it as someone trapped in a tank and also something about love etc etc but that’s not important
