The Red Crows
There is a slender man with long, forest green hair and sharp blood-red eyes seated behind the desk in front of you. He already seems annoyed by something. Possibly your mere presence. It’s hard to tell. A stack of books is piled up on the surface of the desk, one of them opened and resting directly in front a him. Sighing as though your arrival is a terrible inconvenience, he closes the book and pushes his notes aside for the moment before gesturing hurriedly for you to have a seat.
“L-looking for work, I assume?” He pauses with a slight stutter, adding as an afterthought, “Oh, yes. Of course. I’m suppo-osed to ask you if you might like something to drink first. Customer s-service or whatever it was Kiyo called it.” In spite of claims to providing quality customer service, he gestures toward the small table nearer to the front of the office. “Help y-yourself. I’m not your butler.”
The studious mage taps his fingers on the desk impatiently while he waits for you to fetch yourself a drink. When you’re seated again, he hands a few sheets of parchment to you. “I cannot rec-call your name, but I selected these jobs in advance upon consulting y-your information. These are ones mo-ost suitable for someone of your limited talents. Take a moment to look them over, would you?” There’s a beat as he goes back to his reading and notes. Not even looking back up, he curtly informs you, “And I did mean a moment. I haven’t a-all day to entertain mercenaries who r-read at a snail’s pace.”
The Red Crows
The Red Crows are a business that specializes in matching mercenaries with any variety of skill sets to jobs from clients looking for a hand in anything from clearing out a few beasts raiding their farm to escorting a fearful merchant through dangerous territories teeming with cutthroats.
Established a long time ago, both of the founders stepped down, and leadership was passed to another member. Circumstances have changed, and Ilan Faust has returned because... Well, if we’re frank, he’s bored and needs something to pour his excess energy into right now.
OOC Information
For RP reasons, Ilan stopped leading the Crows for a while, but the organization continued to grow to the point where they’re well-known enough that your characters might have heard about them, if they’re people looking to hire someone looking for work or are the sort of people looking to land the odd job here or there and earn some extra coin. If you like, we can even establish that your character has worked for or hired the Crows at a prior point!
In most cases, these “jobs” will be short, one-shot DMed adventures for you and/or a few friends. I’m actually rather new to DMing, but I really would like to practice and get some RP as an added bonus. If you’re not interested in a session, you’re more than free to stop by to interact with Ilan and simply discuss the eventual outcome with me OOCly!
If you’re interested, shoot me a message on Discord at Ilanners#8004, hit me up in game (character is Ilan Faust) or send me a poke here! ❤️
COMING SOON!
Possible amateur night at the flawless dive bar in the basement!
Business As Usual
Mitsune was invited to the home of an Ul’dah merchant with open arms. He was extremely skeptical of all of it, especially after killing a dirty merchant peddling drugs around the lower part of the city. It was bound to get some attention but it was his intentions to get some. Well, he had finally got some from a very eccentric merchant on a very esteemed council.
He was a lalafell named Yuyushusa Kekeshusa. Mitsune looked at the parchment dropped off to him by a messenger. He mainly focused on the name which he narrowed his eyes and blinked at a few times. Not one for surprises, he inspected the writing and investigated if this was a real person and not some elaborate trap. It turned out, this time, it was someone that didn’t want to kill him.
Mitsune walked to the door and presented his parchment to the guards which nodded to him and welcomed him inside of the enormous home. It was littered with the best quality furniture, paintings, lighting, and lavish decorations he had seen before. He walked into a massive dining hall which made him raise both eyebrows and blinked at the elaborate columns with figures carved into them. The guards waved a hand to a very comfortable seat lined extravagant gems and runes.
A lalafell dressed in eccentric garments and expensive jewely walked out and smiled brightly. He waved at Mitsune and hopped up in the chair, holding his arms out to welcome the dark knight mecenary, “Welcome to my humble abode, my friend! I am Yuyushusa Kekeshusa, mining merchant of Ul’dah!”
Mitsune was not use to this kind of fanfare. Nor was he used to anyone calling him friend.
taking odd jobs as a mercenary can either be great or horrible.
last week was one of the best jobs i've ever gotten. Some rich guy from the capital bought a new piece of land and it had a really old lair/tunnel thing underneath it and he wanted it refurbished, so he hired like twelve mercenaries to clear it out and haul wood and break walls. three days of free housing, good mead and construction work.
this week, i have to clean out some old wizard's basement. it's full of mutated giant insects. i fucking hate insects. you can't even slice them with a sword or an axe because they just duplicate like some sort of fucked up tiny hydra
"I wasn't sure you would last at first, but it seems you're slowly finding your place within the mercenary crew."
Nahi smiled, a hint of pride moving into her expression, “Well, I wasn’t sure I would last at first either. I think getting to talk to Fio was my main support system through those first weeks. Haven’t really told her that, but just having someone to connect with helped me not freak out and run away.”
There was a tightness that developed between her shoulder blades even if she kept her expression schooled, “It was, oddly, the night of the attack on the other camp that made me think that the company, and the work, was a place I wanted to give my all to. My biggest worry was how I would react the first time with them that I was involved in violence surrounding me. You don’t know until you know I suppose.” ”Thank you, I hope to continue scratch out where it is I belong.”
(Thank you anon)

<Etiquette> “--Hrng, shit- This thing workin'? Ah, good.. RA I hate omninet connections.. Anyways, to the point of this little broadcast I'm sending out. I'll keep it simple; BTMC 's looking for work."
<Etiquette> "We've mostly finished up the missions our company was given, but.. Well, maintainin' shit takes money, right? Mechs, the home ship, basic supplies.. Things to take care of. Rusty sword 's just as bad as not having one at all. Moving on though. We're open to all sorts of jobs, whether it be dealing with pirates, an escort, or defending somethin'; we can do it. We do have a few ground rules though."
<Etiquette> "First off, no civilian targets. We're not screwing around with that sorta shit. Second, half the payment upfront. If things go wrong, we reserve full rights to focus on saving our personnel rather than completing the objective. Other than that, just follow the shit on the damn contract, and there won't be an issue."
“Black Torrent Mercenary Company, signing off.”
