As an introduction of wheat to the Philippines by the Portugese, Bread became a part of the Filipino cookery. Hence, variants of breads from soft to crispy was invented, and one of those is the "Monay", a dense bread w/ a smooth outter skin and a signature slit on top that colloquially used to describe the Female genital. Strange as it may seem, but the bread's name actually came from "Pan de Monja" that means "The Nun's bread". Nevertheless, monay is an ideal bread to ease your cravings for carbs in the morning before you go to work. "Ginataang Mais" is one of the many variants of "Ginataan" from the Philippines. Derived from the word "Gata" or the tagalog for coconut milk, Ginataan is a word used to described foods that are cooked w/ gata. Ginataan can be classified in to two different types: the dish types, and the sweet types. "Sweet types" of ginataan usually cooked thick w/ rice or rice flour while "dish types" uses meat & ginger.
