One thing that makes me love Merlin more is that he’s such an all around guy— like he’s just some silly little servant, he’s the worlds most powerful sorcerer, he’s done nothing wrong, he has done everything wrong, he’s so kind and sweet, he’s absolutely batshit insane, he wouldn’t hurt a fly, he will not hesitate to put you 6 feet under!

Trollhunters Merlin fan here! I just want to thank you for being so openly supporting Merlin’s character! I always felt reluctant to say I like Merlin, your Merlin posts really gave me the strength 😭

Honestly, Merlin doesn't deserve half of the hate he gets from this fandom. He is not the nicest nor is he the most (boringly cough cough) bland good guy, and I love that! What were people expecting though? Some sweet nice old man who is so wise and good and will magically magic their worries away? No. You get a real character who's been through hell and back. So excuse him if he's puts our characters through a less than gentle experience!

But I'm so happy to see another Merlin fan join our ranks! I know that the hate might seem a bit daunting, I was a bit unnerved at first too. But over time I just learned to use it to my advantage and just troll the fandom where I can lol (get it? Troll? Ahaha sorry)

But yes, Merlin is definitely a complex character that we can't judge too hastily. He's not the nice picture of Merlin that we usually get, but he's no out right villain either. I say, let's wait and see what Wizards will offer :)

I started watching Merlin under the assumption that I’d get some fun history nerd moments and that Merthur was just another fannon mlm ship with little canonical basis but HOLY SHIT I’ve literally seen cannon straight couples with less sexual tension than whatever the fuck those two had going on.
