We are currently getting a mini ice/snow storm... I love the winter, but I miss swimming so much! I can wait to explore more of Lake Michigan this summer. Ugh. I miss the blurry blobs of green in my vision, and the shock of jumping into the cold water. I miss the giant mossy boulders and the curious little lake fishies. I long for spontaneous boat rides on warm summer evenings with my family, and late night swims in moonlit waters 🖤 . But winter is nice too. Winter walks are so peaceful. And there is no sight more enchanting than that of a fresh blanket of untouched glistening snow. When the snowflakes fall gently from the sky, I swear time slows if you stop to watch them fall. ❄ . The cold, quiet and colorless winter days make spring even more sweet when it arrives. The overwhelming sound of birdsong ringing through the air, the intoxicating scent of the hyacinths and the vibrant green of new growth... all the more enjoyable after a winter of anticipation. 🍀 . As I've gotten older, I've learned to find a bit of joy in each season. I never liked summer as a child, but now mermaiding has given me a reason to look forward to it... but until then, I guess I'll happily enjoy winter and the tiny "spring" that Northern Michigan sometimes has. 😇 .
