hc that merlin did one day actually teach arthur poetry, specifically the oral tradition of ealdor, because Arthur may be extremely well-read, but he's been deprived of genuine connection most of his life so he'd hardly know the basics of folklore, let alone orally spoken poems which were never written down.
Arthur reciprocates this by teaching Merlin the poetry he does know, patiently explaining each word or phrase which merlin doesn't really understand because traditional poetry can be hard.
Leon spots them curled up together in bed Merlin's head in arthur's lap, Arthur holding a book of poetry. He smiles and leaves them alone.
