Ponyboy rolled his eyes and kicked his tail harder to keep up. "Evie likes me better than she likes you."
Steve's face folded up in instant offense. Soda nearly folded in half as he burst out laughing, forcing Steve to lose his fast pace and slow down enough that Ponyboy could finally properly catch up.
Before Steve could retaliate, a familiar voice cut through the water.
"Boys!"
The voice erupted from a cluster of brain coral, followed immediately by a flashy, bright-orange and white tail. Two-Bit came bursting out of the reef, his clownfish scales catching the filtered sunlight like a warning flare. He swam with a bouncy, erratic energy that always made him look even bigger than he was, though he was fiercely territorial if anyone stepped onto his patch of the reef. Before Steve could snap, Two-Bit threw his long arms over both Soda and Steve’s shoulders, his weight dragging them down a few feet into the sand.
"You guys are missing the action," Two-Bit crowed, leaning in close, his face split into a wide, gap-toothed grin. "How would you three fine gentlemen like to participate in an enterprise of questionable legality?"
"No," Steve said immediately.
"Maybe," Soda said at the same time.
"Excellent." Neither answer appeared to matter to Two-Bit, and Ponyboy’s face hurt from how hard he was grinning.
A massive, dark shape glided over them, casting a long shadow across the white sand. Dallas Winston. He was the embodiment of violence given life, a muscled bull-shark mer whose skin was a crisscross of jagged scars from old rumbles and scrapes with reef-guards. Dally didn't speak at first. He just looped around the group, his movements restless, tense, and hungry for a fight. His powerful tail created a draft that rustled Ponyboy’s kelp vest.

rated E, deaf surfer Wooley, blue shark Tup, diver Dogma, threesome, biting, xeno, language barrier
Tup has always been too curious for his own good. He tails the landman divers through the reefs and it isn’t arrogance to suggest that he will never be caught. He never has, to date.
Tup’s favorite is back, the one with the speckled face and dark blue fins to go with his tri-tone skin, pale grey underneath and dark on his back like another shark, with variegated blue along each side and over his arms and chest. He has black tendrils and a sparkly bump instead of a dorsal fin. His hands and face are brown with blue ridges.
Tup likes this one because he is curious too. He comes two or three times every other light cycle or so, and is methodically exploring every bit of the reef. He carries a tool to look at every little detail through.
The noisy splashy one is out too, but he rarely ever comes out this far, always playing in the edge waves with his long orange and white shell. He changes colors, sometimes black, sometimes a more vivid orange than his shell, sometimes the color of a moray eel. He has a crest and no fins. Tup thinks he is pretty, but boring.

Mermaids as a cryptid concept is always fun like. Deep sea mermaids with less and less humanoid features (because humans aren't what they need to take) Like mermaids that glow and don't have eyes. Pretty mermaids near the top of the water are fun and all but what if their mouth could split along their face so they could filter-eat fish. What about mermaids with different kinds of tails and such for different areas of the water. What about mermaids with suction cups on their hands that can hang around the pier in order to lure prey over. WHAT about mermaids with see-through scales and visible hearts. WHAT ABOUT mermaids that adapted purely based on rumors about humans appearance and actually appear in an uncanny valley esque form
Human mer!shark Dust
Wanna know when did I get the idea to draw this?
During a brain-toasting chemistry online class -_-
Had a little trouble with the papy!pilot fishes but kinda worked out in the end.
I also decided to try new colouring styles to see if I was satisfied
AND I AM! ^w^

a little something for korrasami month day 3 (prompt: turtleduck), same verse as the blue that lasts bc mermay! 🍃
From the idyllic lagoon to the Spirit World and wonders beyond, Korra has brought her to countless corners of multiple worlds.
It’s Asami’s turn to show her someplace new. Something closer to home.
So seemingly mundane, in fact, that it’s taken her this long for the idea to even occur.
After leaving her rowboat moored in the firth, Asami walks on the riverbank. Korra swims upstream alongside her, gliding happily on the narrow span of the stream, fingers outstretched to skim the low banks. Being but a tributary of the great river around which the inner districts of the town had grown, this stream cuts through marshy surroundings still wild, green and silent save the sounds of animals. They come to where a lake branches off beside the river, the remnant of a cut off meander, with only silted earth and the thin rills cutting through it still connecting it to the channel. Asami gestures for Korra to come and look beyond the willow fronds that obscure most of the lake from view.
For herself, she settles on the edge of the pool, a palm to the ground first to check if it’s damp. “Look,” Asami says again, as Korra props up onto the bank beside her. Then Korra draws in a breath.
“They’re so - cute!”
Asami glows as Korra’s eyes dart amongst the turtleducks paddling gently over the glassy water. A gentle swell of pride warms her when Korra’s tail flicks in excitement, sending a few heavy droplets her away. She laughs as they seep quickly into her sweater. Korra’s attention settles, eventually, on the short train of ducklings closest to the bank. As she tentatively reaches out to engage them, Asami sits back in contentment.
“Much nicer than your eel swans, no offense,” she says, leaning on her hand, head falling on her shoulder as her gaze on Korra turns tender and teasing. Last week, Korra had led an eel swan to Asami because she thought its electric properties would intrigue her, and the swan had clearly found it apt to try and give her a direct demonstration. Turtleducks, blessedly, are much more amenable. Their shells shine in the willow-dappled sun. “I haven’t seen too many of these in the wild, actually. I think they fare better in garden ponds, to be honest.”
“They’re quiet,” Korra agrees softly, pulling a single finger over the soft, fuzzy crown of one duckling. “I’ve - never seen one before.”
“Well, I was hoping you’d say that.” Asami smiles, watching the baby turtleduck nuzzle into Korra’s fingers. A couple more crowd around her stroking hand.
Korra blinks away from them for just a moment to grin back at her.
