Got around to visiting Mesita with a friend a few weeks ago for dinner. We got the chicken empanadas and split an order of the birria street tacos (with shredded barbocoa, chihuahua cheese, white onions and cilantro) and for the entrees, she got the steak and veggie burrito while I got the shredded chicken enchiladas. For dessert, she got the bananas loco (banana pudding, vanilla wafers, whipped cream and a churro bowl) while I got the heavenly nachos (cinnamon and sugar chips, vanilla ice cream, fruit, and chocolate & caramel syrup).

Pongo un vaso y una flor en la mesita atestada junto a su cama, pero él no los mira. En realidad lo hago para mí. La vida todavía debe ser para mí, el viento que insiste en abrir la ventana aún puede dejar un poema en la escudilla. La crueldad de haber arrancado la flor a su madre planta, para mi egoísmo  – verla morir en un escenario sórdido – es un anzuelo limpio (carece de rencor).
