Mesopotomia - Civilization Begins This beauty is out today from @gettymuseum publications. I've been reading for a minute, as i got an advanced copy for preview purposes, but i'm still working my way through it. It's a topic i'm deeply passionate about, and the historical essays are fascinating, and the artwork and photography is stunning, so wanted to take my time and write something nice... I had the good fortune to see some of this collection, of #AssyrianArt, at the @gettyvilla with @the_mystic_wood some months back. It was a profoundly moving and magickal experience, being in the same room with these sandstone artworks several millenia old; one could almost hear the whispering sands of time, feel the accumulated weight of days, of lives lived in their stony orbits, of thousands of years of sunrises, sunsets, wind, and rain. It's humbling and inspiring to the utmost degree. Will share some of my photographs of the Assyrian Art exhibit, in the meanwhile, while i'm getting my thoughts together for a finalized review. Mesopotamian Sundial The Mesopotamians invented many important and useful technologies still being used today. The Sumerians invented the sundial. The sundial was a more accurate tool to estimate the time by using the Sun. The sundial is the oldest known device for the measurement of time and the most ancient of scientific instruments. It is based on the fact that the shadow of an object will move from one side of the object to the other as the sun “moves” from east to west during the day.

She is primarily known as the goddess of sexual love but is equally prominent as the goddess of warfare. In her astral aspect, Inana/Ištar is the planet Venus, the morning and the evening star.

#ملحمة_الحرية – الجزء الثاني " بالعام 1959 إجتني رسالة من جواد سليم ... كالي راح اجي لروما اسوي نصب 14 تموز... نصب الحرية.....اني جان عندي مشغل بروما .. خاص الي ... اجة جواد عندي للمشغل و أخذ مني لوحة و طين أصطناعي... و بدة ينحت وسط نصب الحرية... اللي هو يمثل السجين السياسي ديكسر القضبان و بجنبة الحرية تحمل المشعل ..... بعدين بدة يكمل الجوانب اللي هي قبل الثورة على اليمين و بعد الثورة على اليسار..... كان يصمم بدون مخطط على ورق لان كل التخطيطات اللي عملهة جواد في بغداد ما جابهة ويا لروما " هكذا يروي تلميذ جواد سليم النحات محمد غني حكمت قصة النصب من طرفه... انتهى جواد من تصميم النصب و النموذج و كان عليه ان يبدأ تنفيذ المشروع ..... ماذا حدث تابعونا... الصورة هي المخطط الإبتدائي للسجين السياسي و الحرية  علي طالب
