okay, i'll just say this and people can argue with me if they wish to (doesn't mean i'll respond). gi-hun considering killing sang-woo in 1x08, and then sae-byeok telling him he shouldn't do it because he's a good person at heart, irritates me. this not only has ramifications for s3 (which is a hot mess anyway), but it wouldn't inherently make him a bad person. he was going to protect them, as well as defend himself from what sang-woo would have tried to do if gi-hun fell asleep

i think it also bothers me because gi-hun isn't incapable of violence, but that's another conversation because i think complicated protagonists are still too much for some people to handle

As you all know, I'm a big book bagginsheild fan, and often in the text, Thorin is described with "grey hair." But I have a theory; what if it was actually silver? Most respectable Hobbits do not see gems or silver throughout their lives, so they have no need to make a word for it. So Bilbo just assumed that it was grey, for it was the closest shade he could think of. 

This would make even more sense since dwarves have such unique hair like Dwalin who is described with having a “blue beard” and dwarves seem to be colourful with their cloak choices. Now I do not think his hair shone like the elves did, but more of a rich silver with a hidden glint of glow that reminded others of concealed mithril in rock.

 So now imagine Thorin has this massive impressive beard and hair that is fully silver (with black streaks in some strands) and is very proud of it to the envy of other dwarves. But then Bilbo just calls it “grey” and Thorin is just so dumbfounded.

How many essays can I write about the safety checks built into queer flirtation before it becomes too many essays?

(Am I preparing myself for the Stede-and-touching essay? Yes. Am I over 500 words into a scene breakdown about fancying a fine fabric? Also yes. My life is extremely difficult.)

the juke ship has me in a chokehold and so does Julie’s relationship with all of the boys to be honest. I love how deep their connection is and that their shared love of music is what makes their connection so strong and the way that they care about each other.

There are so many songs that remind me of Julie and Luke the main one i can think of is back to life by Hailee Steinfeld. especially the first line: “ our loves enough, transcending us through space and time.” “it’s holding up”  “it keeps you and me intertwined .”  which to me shows how their connection keeps each other cantered.

“What's a pipe dream if you ain't trying to do it?” “What's a heartbreak if you ain't crying all through it?” “What's a sunset if you ain't riding into it?.” “Let's drive into it.”  

this section shows how you can achieve your dream by trying your very best. And that even though life has it’s ups and down it will eventually be worth it in the end.

this line shows how important her connections to the boys are as a whole, and that they are bringing her back life and that in turn she is helping them through their connection with each other which is what makes them stronger.

“Our memories, They're more than just our history (our history).” “They lift me up.” “They flow like electricity (oh, oh, oh).”

the part above shows their relationship as a whole, this line also tells us how powerful they are when their singing together and that they can overcome anything as long as their together.

“'Cause I'm bringing you back to life (back).” “And I know that you're gone but I swear that you're here.” “It's a feeling that won't disappear.” “And you're bringing me back to life (back).” “I was looking for something that I couldn't find.” “It's a feeling you give me inside.”  

Going back to the chorus above, these lines resonates with me what Julie and the boys  relationships is all about  as a whole and how their connection with each other keeps them grounded.

the next lines of the song symbolises how Julie is the only one able to see the boys when other people are around.

but they are able to be seen when they are singing together with Julie is what makes them visible to other people.

I know the action in the game is reaching a climax but will there be any chances to make smaller choices about the clan changing? Like if we're building housing on the island are we going to use Cine architecture designed for a much colder climate or adapt local techniques, are we going to keep trying to eat like we have access to a lot of wild game, are we going to keep wearing a lot of leather and wool even though it's giving everyone TERMINAL swamp ass.

At the moment, the game is kind of shifting away from smaller but more long-term decisions like that, as there’s actually relatively little in-game time left to cover. That said, we’ll probably have at least one more opportunity to adjust some cultural norms before the game totally ends. 

As for the answer to any specific question (architecture, etc.) I suppose this is a matter of headcanon. I don’t think we’ve ever gotten specific enough about what’s changed and what hasn’t, though with manner of dress and such one can most certainly assume that the Cine are largely practical enough to switch fabrics with climate when the supplies become available.

12, 13, 14 for the salty asks

Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I don’t like Max and I don’t think it’s a positive character arc, as it reveals a lot of negative things about him, but I appreciate the way they handled his arc, starting with him reticent about using his powers and just starting out of desperation to save Liz. And how he cared so much about consent early on. I appreciate how that led to him using his powers more and more and becoming power hungry and the way he acted like he thinks he’s a god. How he thinks he gets to decide how people are punished and ignore their wants and needs for what he thinks is best. That’s followed by the ultimate downfall because he pushed too far and thought too much of himself. Idk, Max is very much a cishet, white, abled, privileged man in a way that irritates me (usually my very least favorite characters on shows have a lot in common with him) and I think that arc really works well with his privilege and lack of awareness of it. IDEK if that makes sense, but it does to me.

Unpopular opinion about XXX character?

Okay, I’ve answered an Alex one here and an Isobel one here (both with references to my ships and both positive about the characters themselves), so... Here’s another Alex one. I’ve seen a lot of people suggest that Alex has been an absent friend to Maria and I think canon suggests otherwise. He’s clearly been talking to Maria a lot about Mimi and what she’s going through with her mom. Enough to know all the details, to know that Liz actually has been absent, and to be at ease dealing with Mimi and her confusion. He also checks in again in episode nine. He’s clearly been present enough to be aware what’s going on in Maria’s life, whether or not we see that onscreen. IMO, Alex is an excellent friend, but the writers could do more to show the human friendships.

Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

I went on quite a rant here about the tendency to make the worst assumptions about people in the fandom who disagree with us. I’d also say the vague posts are a problem. I wish more people had the courage to address individuals directly and discuss their issues politely and like adults. But that is, sadly, not the way this fandom works. Instead, it makes so many of us who, reasonably, shouldn’t be what the post is about, feel massive anxiety about a conflict we have nothing to do with. And I feel that it makes so many of us feel like we can’t say anything for fear of being the target of more vague posts. And, well, we all know what happens when we speak out about it.

To further your point about Cas being Dean’s faith.... you probably saw it but the official SPN twitter tweeted “always have faith” after tonight’s ep.

I basically consider faithless Dean, Soulless!dean at this point. This is what Dean looks like without “anything left.” This isn’t just darkness for Dean, this is Advanced Darkness.

Anyway, this is another level deeper than s7 because everyone died at once here. Dean thought it was just a one fell swoop, what he had hoped for was gone. Sam has a similar reaction to the “death” of Mary as we hear in the ep, but he approaches it differently, because it effects him differently.

We got a little bit of faith in the world returning to Dean at the end there… When Cas literally returned to the world. Dean’s faith was in the empty, he was awakened, and then slowly pulled out of the void back to Dean’s heart through the events in the ep. Eventually, they will rejuvenate back where they were. Needs time to heal, probably a lot of time. They’ve been through a lot.

Technically Cas is part of Dean in an extremely off the board allegorical sense… someday I’ll explain it more, but it will probably only make perfect sense once the show ends. I do love me some layered narrative… Ignore me, I’m yelling about weird things again.

The parallels in S1 between characters really interest me. Like when todd is filling up the car we see dirk sitting on top, and when Bart is ‘getting gas’ we see Ken doing the same, so it’s Ken and dirk mirroring eachother.

Which is really cool because in dialogue, Bart and dirk mirror eachother, but in actions it’s dirk and Ken, making it seem like it’s their personal agency that’s being mirrored and not their backgrounds.

See, what I mean is, at that point dirk and Ken both have no agency. Dirk is resigned to the universe pushing him around and Ken is bart’s prisoner, so it’s dirk and Ken who actually have more in common.

Which is the case a lot… Because Bart and dirk are coming at it from different sides. Dirk says he goes where the universe tells him to. Bart says whoever she kills is the right person, she’s giving herself agency here, unlike dirk. Bart is the aggressor, and in some ways, so is todd. Todd is the one making the decisions, not dirk, so todd and Bart are mirrored
