Thirteenth #taxol ✅, it comes in that yellow bag on the rolling table. . . It was an 8am start because we rescheduled since I haven't been feeling well this week. I was relieved to get a slot. When we got there and checked vitals, my blood pressure was really high, which is not my norm at all. . . My fave charge nurse was working and he came and sat with me in the little infusion nook and took my hand in his. He asked me to visualize all the negative energy leaving my body through my hand and going into his. He talked me through a simple visualization focusing on letting go and being present. My blood pressure went down. . . I have never encountered this kind of care in the allopathic setting. I told him it was shamanistic in nature. He said shamans are often the "doctors" in his culture--Hmong. We talked again of his Hmong cultural influences and how it shows up in his work. . . I received extraordinary #tenderlovingcare this morning from everyone, including the scheduler who called me at 8:10am wondering where I was. I answered the phone, immediately recognized her voice, and told her I was just being dropped off. "Okay, Georgia see you in a moment," she drawled pleasantly in her rich voice. . . Then the nurse who put my IV in was fast and sweet and smooth. Now I'm back at the lab for more draws since the wrong ones were pulled first. These labs are for the #paracentesis I am having tomorrow morning also at 8am (thank goodness for these early slots few patients want so I don't have to wait days and days.) I've also dosed down on the #cannabis oil and am not as terribly groggy in the mornings. . . I am grateful for the extra-kind support of all the health workers I've encountered today. This next lab draw will make nine encounters for today. And I'm doing all this wearing a #chemocap. #metastaticbreastcancer #metathriver #silverliningspecialist #stayinthelight #stayopen #strong Sent from my iPhone
