Aftermath

On Tuesday I gave birth to my daughter after 30+ hours of labor followed by an emergency csection. Not fun. We came home yesterday and today I was right back at the clinic. It was awful. I was in miserable pain and away from my baby for the first time and they had me check in with the nurse to give her my discharge information and to register the pain medication the hospital sent me home with. This took a security guard to unlock the gate to the hallway that is closed off on the weekend. When I was done the nurse paged him to unlock the gate to let me out and he was right there pronto saying, “We don’t want you people in here a second longer than necessary.”

Um, don’t worry, asshole. I don’t want to spend a second longer than necessary at the methadone clinic. Especially with “you people” who treat the patients like the scum of the earth. What an awesome thing to say to a woman who is completely hormonal and in obvious pain after having given birth less than a week ago.

Smoke Bums

What is it about being hit up for cigarettes at the clinic when I’m obviously pregnant?? Is it a man thing? Do men not understand that smoking in pregnancy is usually frowned upon and most pregnant women choose not to smoke, and the chances of me having a cigarette are pretty slim? 

This guy had even thought it out, saying, “Do you have I cigarette I could have if you drop it on the ground?” Meaning that if I had a cigarette to share with this bum, I would drop it on the ground so as not to get in trouble with the clinic. They are very strict about people not touching and handing each other things, which is understandable... but we were down the street and no longer in front of the clinic.
