Favorite thing about them

I was really scared that they’d just make her a Minfilia 2.0 / an excuse to revive Minfilia.. even before we met Ryne, when they were talking about her backstory and the backstory of previous oracles I thought that it was kind of messed up how these innocent girls couldn’t even live their own lives and was just... living in the shadow and name of somebody else.

Really really glad they actually addressed that and made it a big part of Ryne’s character arc and insecurities. I feel like a lot of us can identify with having to live up to expectations / being expected to be or act a certain way. And Ryne being given her own name and identity will never not be sentimental and heartwarming to me.

Least favorite thing about them

Maybe that... Eden Savage transformation? I dunno. I’m not usually very sensitive to that sorta thing but as many others have already pointed out it feels a tad forced and over sexualized. Not gonna comment any further on the matter, I’ll just say that I don’t exactly like the design of her dragon form.

Favorite line

Random headcanon

Okay this is REALLY random but... in a modern au I imagine Ryne is this really tech savvy, outgoing high schooler who really likes otaku culture. Don’t ask me why I just find her nerding out over magical girl anime and having a ton of phone charms adorable. Her favorite anime is probably something like sailor moon, she makes her own cosplay costumes but feels slightly insecure about wearing the cosplay out in public.

Don’t know if this counts buuuut I don’t like her relationship with Thancred as much as other people do, I guess. But let’s just leave it at that.

It ended up on Kirishimi’s playlist while I was at work daydreaming. I was trying to come up with cool action scenes and this song came on which lead me to think of a scene with Kiri on her motorcycle, driving through one of many castrums. She would rescue Thancred or someone then drive off a ledge and onto Cid’s airship. Will I ever write it?  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This song in particular always gives me Kilika vibes. Kirishimi trying to remember her childhood, before she lost her memory. It comes in vague dreams and wakes her up in the middle of the night with a racing heart. Besides feeling afraid, there’s also a loneliness that comes with it. Did her family miss her? Did they notice she was missing? Especially the lines ‘They were kids that I once knew’ and ‘It’s hard to know they’re out there, it’s hard to know that you still care’.

Hmm that’s an interesting one I haven’t thought of before. They’ve certainly got an opposites sort of dynamic and Hilda has the street smarts and common sense that Laurelis lacks. like 90% of her other answers to any question ever it’s her family for Mira!! I wasn’t kidding when I said she was familiar oriented to the max. But if she had to pick something besides that it’d probably be lavender (flowers, scent, ect) because she grew up around so much of it and it’s just nice yknow? Also bread, freshly baked raisin bread always makes her happy!! And it goes perfectly with hot chocolate :3c

meanwhile Juno be like “do we truly know how to define happiness? do things give us joy or only serve as a passing emotion we won’t care to remember in the grand scheme of it all? is it even just a fleeting moment of satisfaction that we define otherwise andblahblah” like an edgelord with an extended vocabulary. 11. In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been? :3c

After Cartneau (answered here), it would be the attack on Praetorium. She was not only expected to participate in a military operation against Garlemald once again, but to help lead it. Her PTSD definitely made itself be remembered during this, and then having to fight directly against well-known figures in the Garlean military and Eorzean horror stories (looking at you, Gaius) and then everything with Lahabrea, and Ultima, and having to escape the crumbling castrum not only responsible for her life, but also Thancred’s… yeah, she did not have a good time.
