Unpopular Opinion

tldr

Stop hating on meuwlins she meant well.

Everyone has opinions respect them.

Okay so we've all seen this going around tumblr right?

Well let me just state my highly unpopular opinion about this.

Did you guys read the entire thing or just stop at "If you are homophobic by choice, being raised that way, etc, fine."?

DID YOU READ THE ENTIRE THING? DID YOU READ THE BOTTOM?

IT SAYS "Don't be mean to anyone in general."

Let me repeat: It says

"DON'T BE MEAN TO ANYONE IN GENERAL."

Now I understand homophobia is not the popular opinion in this day and age, if anything it is enough to get you killed and sent to the eighth layer of hell.

Trust me I understand, homophobia is not something I'm on board with and I think it is a wrong opinion to have, but it is still someone's opinion and you need to be respectful of it. And that's what she's trying to say!

'Hey! You have an opinion and while it's not one I like I'll respect it. I know you don't like my opinion but still be polite and respect it. Everyone be polite and respectful to everyone' IS THE GIST OF HER POST. BE NICE TO EVERYONE.

Could she have worded that better? Yes, it could have been worded in a million and one different ways but I can assure you half the things I'm typing can be worded differently as well. She meant well with her post but a good lot of people are hating on her because of one, not thought out, sentence. And I agree with her. 'Hey you got an opinion I don't like and you don't like mine but we're cool with each other because we just won't bring it up. I'm sure there are other cool things we can discuss that we have in common.'

And it really pisses me off because you know where else I have seen this behavior of people hating on her for an unpopular opinion?

CHRISTIANS HATING ON GAYS AND GAY SUPPORTERS.

They hate on people like that right?! They hate them and tell them that their opinion is wrong and are nothing more than bullies and harassers. They try to shove their own opinion down that other person's throat. Not all Christians do this, some do support homosexuality and there are also some who do not but remain respectful in their opinions towards it and can have a very calm and intelligent discussion concerning views.

But a lot of the ones I've seen have been nothing but ramming and beating down gays and their supporters, and to see people beating on meuwlins reminds me of that. That they're no better than the people who try to beat them down because they're shooting down someone else's opinion.

that girl who made the "don't be mean to homophobes" post is making a new blog because she's sick of people calling her out on her bullshit and a lot of her recent posts have been her getting supportive messages and her going "oh thank you glad not everyone on this site is so mean"

i dont think she deserves the hate messages but what she said was awful and can put a lot of misleading thoughts into peoples head considering people on tumblr are willing to listen to a lot of shit the minute it hits their dash, happens to be worded right, and has kawaii emoticons
