So do you remember this post where I said I was considering doing a challenge where I wear all of my @mayakern skirts every day for the month of May? Well, since then, I've accumulated 6 more skirts for 27 total (and one dress) and I need a reason not to just go another month in yoga pants.. so let's have at it.

Maya Kern May - Day 1

First up is this lovely Strawberry Mini with pattern by Rii Abrego. However, it is 44 of Daniel Fahrenheit's own degrees here, so I paired it up with some heavy Snag tights and the Dandelion Jacket by Meyoco.

I managed to snag a @mayakern x Meyoco sparrow skirt for my spouse! Tatsu's special interest is birds but we missed out on preorders last year so I am very happy we could get the last one in this size ;v;

I replaced the gathered waist with a satin elastic waistband to tweak the sizing and the color balance.

I used foldover elastic so it would fully encase the skirt fabric on both sides. Waistband and skirt were pin-eased together and straight-stitched while stretching the material as it was fed through the machine. Wooly nylon was used for both bobbin and top thread as extra insurance against future thread breakage.

I remember years ago I found an artist called Meyoco who makes the most beautiful things, and I was like Alright imma paint like this too. With acrylics, a ballpoint pen, some old brushes and a toothpick i did my best. Im happy how it turned out considering I only ever paint my ceramic but nothing beats the real artist ♡
