Job roles (task 2) - unit 12
ECOM is a growing business that deals with the fashion industry located in Tunbridge Wells.
The roles that the job will involve would be creating outlines of outfits and clothing from scratch which will include colour and shape for both male and female designs. It will also involve creating designs that will be printed onto the foundations of the clothing. Additionally it would include banner creation and image retouching, UI/UX design, design email newsletters and site banners as well as other marketing collateral.
My current skills are average and may be a lot closer than most people because i have used programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for a few years and I have good knowledge on the software. I have a keen eye for design and understand what is needed for a creative and unique design.
The current competition that ECOM is facing is likely to be small businesses, local ones that are also trying to expand to become a more national company. However they also face competition from John lewis, Primark and Pour Les Femmes. These names attract a much wider and global audience which is why it is difficult for a company like ECOM to expand as they face constant competition from these big names.
Contract - task 1 (unit 12)
A contract is an important part of working. It discusses the pay, the work done by the employee and what the outcome will bring regarding graphics and animation.
First is the time scale that is mentioned in the contract to ensure that work is going to be what the employer wants. If a designer was given the contract with a 14 day limit to complete planning, drafting and finalisation then it would be the designers objective to complete the project within the set time otherwise they would breach the terms of the contract and could be refused pay, ultimately having his time and the employers' time wasted.
Secondly is the discussion on the pay rate which is the most important of them all. The pay rate is an undisclosed amount between the employee and the employer for the work that the designer will be doing. The pay is what will ultimately decide whether the designer wants to be participating in working for the employee regardless of motive. Pay rate could be hourly, which is very useful for some people as it means that the employer can terminate the contract and pay the employee the very minimum possible as pay rate would not be weekly. Additionally pay rate could be daily which is the most common pay rate for designers. Finally is weekly pay rate, which is more commonly used when a group is employed, rather than an individual.
Furthermore the deadlines are stated in the contract so the employee knows when the work needs to be completed and handed in. The contract can be terminated by the contract holder at any time and the designer will receive no pay if this happens, but the employer will not receive the rights to the designs either.
Finally is the disclaimer that is always included in contracts to disclose the business that is going on between the company/employer and designer. This would usually involve pay, a non disclosure agreement and warnings before starting the job. It is often written to prevent one party Contract disclaimers, like all disclaimers, are written to protect one party from an undesired outcome. A contract disclaimer is similar in spirit but different in that it exists in a shared writing between parties who have negotiated the terms. It allows them to understand the legal rights as well as what they can and cannot do.
This is my design for the football logo. I've been using illustrator to work on this.
I was working with filters and opacity, blending modes such as bevel and emboss, drop shadow, colour overlay and noise effects along with water effects to create the overall effect within Photoshop
Research Unit 57
Photography could be used everywhere in the business industry and even in personal use.
It is most commonly seen in advertisements across the world. Photography is the forefront of advertisements and has been since the early 20th century when movies began showing to the public and advertisements were placed to alert people to watch them. However there are many sub section forms of advertisement, some include, promotional, fashion, portrait, press and studio.
Promotional advertising would be for businesses that are looking to promote a certain product within their business such as McDonalds promoting a new burger, or a new meal deal, such as McDonalds' Monopoly game, it advertises the business and brings in more customers for the time they are advertising.
The fashion industry rely heavily on photography to advertise and boast for the new season clothing. Photographers are a big part of that and are reliable for the advertisement of the clothing across blogs, newspapers, magazines and elsewhere on the internet.
A portrait is a method where you use a Macro camera to take pictures of someone close up, around 1-10 feet would be the range that a portrait would be taken with a Macro camera.
The press use photography to take pictures of celebrities participating in events such as the red carpet or the Golden Globe Awards where celebrities are the main focus for their work in the public eye such as movies and songs, even Eminem was awarded a Grammy for his film 8 Mile despite his rapping career being the main focus. He was the attention of every camera for that short time.
Finally is the studio quality photography. The camera would be a high quality camera that would be able to take pictures with a lot of detail and some cameras may even be 4k. These cameras would usually be a 50mm or higher camera that would be able to handle that distance for studio.
Finally landscape photography would be the wallpapers or background used in a bigger work, such as movie advertisements. The theme may be nature and the photographer would have
